Batman is already partway into the villain* aesthetic, they could have made atleast a single cool gothy evil guy, instead we got shitpile, robot and Judge Death ripoff+others I can't be bothered to remember.

I need a refresher on Dan Slott and why he's disliked. I'm aware of some his lolcow behavior online, but never really followed his run on Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Fantastic Four. Full disclosure, I have met and talked to him before at the Calgary and Edmonton Comic Expos. He didn't say or do anything objectionable, but I also wasn't confrontational either. I was just curious enough to shoot the breeze with him about comics.
Besides his She Hulk revolving around She Hulk being a whore and Leader using her being a whore to get acquitted of mass murder from the PAD Ground Zero arc Hulk #340-340?
Scott basically sold his soul to become the prime architect of Brand New Day Spider-Man after spending the early 00s pathetically begging to be made writer of ASM. And he fully embraced the mindset of blood libeling fans of the marriage who were pissed the fuck off, a mindset that was encouraged due to Quesada bribing Rich Johnston (who owed a huge tax bill that Quesada paid off on the downlow) to smother all coverage of the negative kind to BND on Bleeding Cool and having the other news sites burying negative reaction and only giving fawning praise to BND out of sycophantic desire not to have Marvel blackball then from having access to them.
BND was dog shit with Slott's work being especially bad. The only story he wrote that was anywhere remotely decent was the fan service heavy Spider Island, which ironically ended with a tease that Peter and MJ might get back together and had Slott quit then and there, he might have salvaged his legacy especially if he fucked off to DC for a bit.
But Slott ripped MJ and Peter apart immediately after the tease and followed it up with the Endo of the world which had Dr Octopus in full genocide the Earth mode, which then followed up with Superior Spider-Man, which needless to say was so vile and horrifyingly bad that Slott didn't even bother to hide that he was doing it purely to spite the Bakers and Boxleitners of the Internet who were his most vocal critics online. Not yo mention the BS that was his antics on the way out the door, trying to kill MJ to fuck over Nick Spencer reuniting her and Peter after Slott FINALLY got forced off the book for Spencer against his will, or that he demanded his last issue be #801 purely to fuck all future legacy numbering.
Imperial? Another crossover? And they are making Star Lord/Nova a thing? Fucking why? Where is Gamora?

Imperial is basically supposed to be a reset button push on Marvel Cosmic after Slott was allowed to merge the Kree-Skrull Empire, plus some housecleaning on getting rid of the Wakanda space empire which turned out to be insanely unpopular, and to let Hickman do some shit he planned for the Shi'ar Empire while rehabbing Xavier/resetting the Shi'ar back to having Lilandra running things
