Sometimes, but you get used to it/ them.
I don't know how women walk around with their toes taking all of the weight.
It's really mostly the ball of your foot. And when you know how to walk in them it's more evenly distributed and you walk heel-toe, especially in a quality shoe. I wore stilettos no problem. A thicker heel makes it even easier. But like I said, calluses and being used to it also makes a difference.
"but how does this effect you personally?" They are being housed in hotels and in rentals, anywhere the government can put people, just like every other western country.

Agree that those decades of over 50% taxation in the 60s-80s were onerous. But 40-60 years ago there weren't the immigrants that you have now...yet income taxes for someone in your situation have dropped radically since then.

You can choose how much to spend. This is unlike an income tax.
Still, 15% is very high.
Do you pay the same 15% on food as on everything else? * Here, sales tax is determined by states, and some states exclude food (and sometimes clothing) from sales tax.
*I see that it applies to
most everything that is commonly purchased (reductions or none for some things, but not basic life products, though reduction or removal of this tax at least for food is highly supported and has been proposed but afaict hasn't gone anywhere yet).
