Death Stranding - Hideous Kojumbo does it again

He just wanted to hang out with celebs he ripped off.
It's funny that even with the circumcized dicksucking he's been at for the better part of 25 years - they still aren't going to allow him into their little movie making club. At best he gets a netfux special or something where the producers tell him half of the characters need to be black.

The story isn't really anything interesting so far, half way through, agree with everyone about that. But honestly I wasn't really that into the original story, it had a pretty unique world and I came to like a lot of the characters, but I wasn't really expecting to care that much about the story in this one. Really the most surprising thing is just how little there is new to the game. Sure I figured it wouldn't be radically different gameplay wise, but there isn't anything new to the game besides new guns. Same structures, same vehicles, same road building goal. I guess you can capture animals and there are natural disasters now? But disasters that are so inconsequential you probably could have convinced me they were in the original game.

Sure I got kind of addicted building the road in the original game and putting ziplines all over the mountains. But I don't really feel like doing that all over again. I'll definitely finish it because it's still kind of comfy to go on a virtual walk but this has been really disappointing so far. Also Dollman is alright, I like him.

The consistent thing I'm hearing from you all is 'this could have been an expansion pack'. Like, it's not a massive new iteration on the concept or a radically different world, it's just a new map in the same or a very similar engine.

The whole who's baby it is plotline was just stupid, felt like the trash TV shows that people make fun of

There are a lot of new things that act more like gimmicks then actually help deliveries. Like ramps you can jump without fall damage. Why not do a zip line instead so I can get to where I need to go? At best it is a good single time shortcut. The same for things like capturing BTs like Pokemon and using them for boss fights.

Essentially. I'm not really adding anything new but I really wanted to get off my chest the tremendous disappointment I felt lol. I was really looking forward to this game when it was first announced.

Didn't the ramps in the original game not make you take fall damage? I only ever used them with the gliding exoskeleton. With a bit of work you could set them up in the mountains so that you could essentially glide your way a pretty far distance by landing at your next ramp at a lower elevation. Really satisfying.

The way I understand it, other people have already built all the best roads and ziplines and charge stations, so it's basically a matter of having to purposefully gimp yourself and ignore one of the game's main selling points to play it the way you want. Ultimately it's just kindov a pointless endeavor, as most people already work a wagie lifestyle, but now you're playing as an amazon wagie in your supposed "escapism"... cool? Seems like torture to me.

The older I get, the more I need a game to actually have tangible goals and a competent story to be worth playing. The mindless collectathons, the ubisoft tower climbing games, the endless but meaningless generative content games... I can't bother wasting my time on them anymore.

Oh yeah. That was a problem with the first game. The first time you enter into an area that isn't connected to the chrial network you actually are challenged with the terrain obstacles. To be fair to death stranding as a series there is actually some great challenges when traversing. Lots of spaces with BTs where if you come prepared with ladders or climbing ropes you can avoid them by scaling obstacles or finding shortcuts. There's also the challenge of moving efficiently across a rugged landscape to reach your destination by finding or creating efficient routes. However, once you're on the chiral network, yeah, bridges and battery stations make it essentially a delivery service with no challenge.

Really it could have maintained the challenge while also giving players an opportunity to develop the landscape while also getting updoots from fellow porters (very addicting despite it being a useless metric) by having your own structures appear to other players as destroyed or decayed structures that need to be repaired with their own materials. Players would be encouraged to repair broken level 1 structures rather than making their own to save on chiral bandwidth and it could also do something like giving the original player who put it a fraction of the material to upgrading or maintaining their own structure. I feel like that would have been a great way of letting other players connect and interact with each other across different games, maintain the challenge of the environment after connecting it to the chiral network, while also giving the satisfaction of turning a rugged and challenging landscape into an easily navigable space. That last part is what makes building the roads so addicting, having former outposts that used to take ten minutes to get to over rough terrain take just a minute or two on a car. I will give some credit that building roads does actually require some time and sacrifice to do and for the most part don't appear automatically, at least not for a while.

Also the space between outposts should have been doubled (or more) while also increasing the reward for successful trips. As it stands now stamina is less of a pressure on the player to reach a destination efficiently and more of a soft timer until you have to watch Sam take a shower and get a cutscene.

Stamina is a hundred percent just a thing for likes to give a bonus to. Like getting a random estus charge in a dark soul for your funny dog joke or whateever, except they didn't want it to be that meaningful so it ends up being fucking nothing.
I hardly ever used my canteen, let alone the dozens of chloro bugs the game throws at you for some reason.

Man, by the way, what's with those cryptobiote nests? Getting one almost instant full heal would be a lot, why the hell can you grab like ten from a single nest when there's nests fucking everywhere?

Eh, the social building stuff is kinda faked I'm pretty sure. Like, you get a certain amount of stuff rationed to you gated by progress, so there's always things you need to do yourself--and that's factored into the construction costs, so it'd be a massive grind to do it all offline. Unless you're basically ignoring it, then you'll eventually see stuff filled out by other players, to balance out different playstyles. I played the first game several months late and this one on day one and there was really no difference. It's just to paint the illusion of some gayass happy cooperation theme.

Stuff like ziplines are never really a problem because you'll get a spattering of randomly placed ones by different people, but they aren't exactly a network (and it's worse in this game because it adds curved ziplines--but only for ones you build, completely breaking a lot of online placements). At best a useful one will be in a good location to give you a direction to set up your own network.
Most of this junk is just random world pollution or annoying obstacles as a result. The biggest offender are chiral bridges, I swear everyone using those are some kind of retard.

So I gotta ask, every single video and short that pops up about this game features the same Duran Duran song and is always something that's referencing Metal Gear.

So like...is this all the game is or just all anyone cares about?
That song isnt even in MGSV it came out after. Its a joke to pretend like it was because it would've fit so well. That's it, you're just seeing a meme and like all memes it has been repeated long past the point of being funny.

Fuck, that reminds me of the in-game ads. Do they have any ads for the next norman reedus© product on the wall for the shower scenes?

Eat ze Bugs!

Tl;dw? Super coomer calling out cooming is pretty ridiculous.
Says it's a wage slave simulator with the main character being a glorified errand boy for the NWO/globalist order and the overly strong female characters throughout the game - with Norman's character being a stand in for the modern incel who doesn't have anything going for him, so he must sacrifice for the NWO and the females around him. Then he compares it to Blade Runner 2049 due to the similar plots, especially with the inclusion of some random VTuber.

Goddamn, the game isn't that deep lol
