Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Yakuza guys own the horses, one of the requirements for the game releasing was that the horses don't get lewded.
So the horse girls are real horses(?) and because they have real reputations and real yakuza money backing them, they'll break your shins and empty your piggy bank if you draw porn of them. That's so autistic I believe it, though free advertising is free advertising.

This is accurate. Gaming now has lost its novelty. The PSP had the novelty of being a handheld gaming console capable of experiences similar to the PS2. Playing GTA on the go like on the TV? Cool! The Xbox 360 allowed higher fidelity, high definition graphics and the ability to play online gaming through Xbox Live. All new experiences I've yet to know about from that point in time.

What is new with gaming or technology anymore? I think the last thing I can think of would be the Nintendo Switch with it being an handheld and home console in one.

VR, but it's still too niche/expensive. I've tried it and it's super fun, immersive and innovative, but it has a bigger barrier to entry so it'll take a while to become popular. Also I definitely have the impression people are more jaded. Whenever there's a discussion about VR, I often see people dismiss it as a gimmick.

it is gimmicky for the games it's made for it, the first fun immersion thing is your two weeks period then you get used to it, especially since most games don't fucking support it which gives you that longing feeling of "how would this game be on VR" type of shit and modding old games for VR support is finicky as fuck.
also it's not *that* expensive if you go the DIY route but you need to be on the very niche rabbithole and frustration is to be expected as many of the stuff you'll come through is unsupported and you also need that point of view of enjoying doing shit yourself, else you will be bored midway of the project and drop it.
i'd kill to have more support from lucas's vr gloves overall, it's just going from water to wine when you compare to regular vr controllers.

I think the AAA industry NEEDS to crash to escape the forever loop of overhyped modern garbage releases. The more devs being sold to something like microsoft to inevitably be canned the better (game industry darwinism at this point). People losing their jobs sucks but if they're worth anything, they'll find more work or start on their own projects.

I don't know if this debate actually exists outside of Souls games, but the whole strength vs. dex thing has always seemed really juvenile to me. I'm sure a lot of it's ironic but there's always a small group of people that takes shit dead seriously. When it gets to the point where you actually think someone is a bad player because they aren't using the approved build to play a game, you need to calm the hell down. That's an actual "Go outside" moment.

I don't understand the current hype with Uma Musume Pretty Derby. It seems like that it is not genuinely because people like playing or watching the game, even with its current player count and Twitch viewership:

It's not even remotely my thing but I do understand it. It's a silly lighthearted game without any angry racial or gender politics or full of incredibly ugly women and niggerfaggots.

Yea but theres no real gameplay its just gacha for stats then hit the play button and watch a movie. The overpopularity of gacha games would be fine if it was isolated like other trends (mobile games for example) but that shit seeps into other games too.

The Japanese love barely-interactive horse racing "games" and of course they love cartoon girls. Zoomers love being gay. Seems like exactly the kind of thing I would expect to be popular right now.
