All of those women on that smug comic are literally saying things I’ve seen smug bitches say on tumblr and twitter. Hell, I can probably go and pull up a good amount of times this has happened. Hell, on the subject of female on male abuse alone I can pull up all kinds of horror stories, which includes feminists undermining many, many attempts to try and establish help for men.

I'm assuming the attitude of "moving out of the house at 18 because you're legally emancipated". This feels like some infantilization: I at least know I wanted to get away from my parents once I reached 17/18 just to attempt to live on my own. Also you can go to a local college or community college to save money. Or, they can go to a trade school and learn a trade if they so desire.

Soapbox for a second: 18 year olds in the past absolutely were capable of adult tasks and they still are today, it's just a matter of preparing them for adult responsibilities which (for various reasons) has fallen out of the cultural zeitgeist. No, they don't have everything figured out, nobody does, but it's such a massive disservice to their development to shelter them like this, and more of an indictment of your parenting than anything. Middle schoolers can learn to cook, high schoolers can get a part time job, I'm sure someone at the end of elementary school could easily learn how to operate laundry machines and fold their own laundry. Once your kid hits 16 and works a small job to buy a car and have spending money, you start teaching them about good financial habits and how not to rack up 5 figures of bad credit debt.

To loop back on topic, this is why she's suck a fucking Redditor. 18 year olds are still babies, adulting is hard, everyone's parents are narcissists who are giving their children CPTSD by telling them to get a fucking job, and everyone accidentally ends up with maxed credit cards because of late stage capitalism (and not because they buy thousands of funko pops). I have a sneaking suspicion her daughter is going to GTFO as soon as she hits 18, and her son is going to live at home well into adulthood because "omg he's just not ready to be on his own!"; I wouldn't be surprised if that kid hits 18 not even knowing how to do basic house cleaning.

Yeah, I don't like this new view of "baby your kids until they hit 18". In my view that's neglect. You want them to leave not knowing how to properly do basic tasks? I got more and more responsibility as I got older. This is why there are grown adults who don't know how to sweep. You want your kid to burn their food when they're out on their own instead of in your kitchen?
