Mega Rad Gun Thread

I recently made a new financial mistake and bought an m44 mosin for a really good price.
I have wanted an m44 or m38 for a while and I do have a 91/30. This one is weird tho it's all numbers matching the bore is in really good condition but it has no import marks and dosent appear do be refurbished at all. I took the entire rifle apart to clean it and the first thing that really bought my attention was the stock when I was buying it as it seems to be a weird mutant stock made from an earlier rifle and some other mystery front from another, although the buttplate matches numbers with the receiver and everything else. The front part of the stock when I took it apart had a news paper cut from 1965 coated in epoxy in to act as a spacer or shim (sorry don't have pictures) so that gives me a time period for when the stock was replaced. Other than that the rifle is in really good condition just want some thoughts on the gun or if any of you guys could identify the front portion. I think .380 is a pretty good option for concealed carry, especially if you're physically frail or handicapped in some way. Like others said the round technology has come a long way to provide proper penetration and expansion. I think a lot of of the less impressive results of .380 testing can come from people using exceptionally small .380 pistols that have a barrel shorter than 3 inches. The advantages of the round can be seen most easily in terms of recoil and the effects this has on follow up shots, but a gun designed around .380 can also be quite compact even compared to a 9mm if you're living in an area where CC can be a major fucking chore due to your environment.

I've got the browning 1911 .380 and I love the fucking thing, very nicely scaled down 1911 that can fit in anyone's hands really easily and has respectable power with the 3.5+ inch barrel. Provided you don't fuck up in ammo choice I think .380 is a perfectly acceptable choice for CC, but that is about as far as I would be willing to go. Obviously if you're in an area where you might get attacked by things with thicker hides than the average negro you might want to scale up, but otherwise is pretty good I think.

So what is big game hunting like in the UK? Is it all Scotland basically?
Various species of deer all over the country, ranging in size from muntjac and Chinese water deer at 30-40lb to red deer where the stags are north of 500lb. A few pockets of wild boar around the place where they've escaped from farms.

We don't have big tracts of government owned land so it can vary depending on the area, some places you'll be paying the landowner to go out with a guide, others they're begging people to come shoot the deer because they're over-populated. They range all over the country so you can see them whenever you're outside town.

We did for our last bears and wolves hundreds of years ago so there's no big carnivores left to hunt.

Their MP5s are solid but I'll never, ever buy a fucking franken-G3 from them ever again because of their total bullshit.
PTR isn't century, so there's that at least. The century C308 i got was utter garbage (charging gap was not set right so it was near impossible to charge)
It seems that both PTR and Zenith Firearms are totally allergic to advancing the roller delayed market past terrible HK91 clones and decent MP5s here stateside.
Why wouldn't they be? MP5s sell, and G3s can be built off FMP and Cetme parts kits, reducing manhours. They could innovate, sure, but there's not much incentive to, because fundamentally you cannot really produce a rifle that realistically competes with the AR15.

Case in point
Swear to fucking god if these companies don't release a MP5/10mm clone or a good HK93 clone I'm going to lose it.
Their HK33 clone/improvement, the PTR63, is 8.5 pounds empty with a 16" barrel. A somewhat innovative (theres a few points where the ptr63 differs from the hk33 like using stanag mags), rifle is weights the same empty as an AR with optic and light empty does.

Decided for the Thunder 380X instead of the HiPower Detective since .380 is naturally subsonic and has a threaded fixed barrel, it's also been really nice to conceal, suggestions on .380 defensive ammo?
Currently just using basic 95 gr FMJs, there's some critical defense .380 HPs but I've heard iffy things on expansion consistency with .380 so for now just FMJs.
Ohh my... A blowback .380

RIP your hand bones

It looks like some custom fab sheet metal affair. It looks extremely similiar to [generic European black powder gun] (gras, vetterli, beaumont, etc.) But it appears to be sheet metal and not milled. Its presumably some Bubba custom affair.
Honestly the weirdest thing about this gun is that everything done to it is reversible if I want. Usually Bubbas drill the receiver for a scope or cut down the barrel but none of that has been done to this Bubba gun. Also the no import marks make the think this could be a Korea take back. Or the original import marks could have been on the stock like some of the old SMLE imports. Also if it helps that end cap on the stock has that weird cleaning rod looking thing in the front is Part of the cap and dosent screw out.

I don't carry .380s that aren't pocket guns, so I go for max short barrel performance and for that I've landed on XTREME defender as my carry round of choice for when I'm limited to a .380 which despite a kind of cringe name seems to perform better than FMJ. Based on what I've seen of tests in the past I can't rely on a JHP to expand with pocket gun velocity so I cut out the requirement for expansion.

.380 is fine, good even, like any defensive carry considerations accuracy is paramount. A 9mm in the heart kills you only slightly faster then a .22 in the heart. Primary consideration as always is reliability, second here is ergonomics. Getting a little bit bigger for a proper grip is usually the way to go.

My .380 is an old DB380 shit blaster, genuinely hate the thing. But it usually cycles and fits in a suit pocket, so it occasionally gets use. Don't buy one. Actual garbage.

Thinking of getting a cut slide for my Glock 26. Haven't picked an optic, and might not for a little while, but the slide is on sale. Question: RMR or RMSc cut? I figure the selection for RMSc would have generally smaller optics good for a subcompact, but is there a reason I would instead go RMR?

Personally I'd base the entire purchase around the optic. Not sure about the sale you've got your eye on but my Glock slide for a 17 (RMR cut) cost a fraction of what the optic cost. Never mind that there's many different preferences you'd have to keep in mind between optics. All that said, if I had to pull the trigger and you're wanting subcompact I'd go RMSC, there's a pretty wide selection just in that footprint alone that you'll probably find whatever you would want in an RMR footprint optic in the RMSC camp.

I agree with @Internet-Based Lobotomy. Pick an optic, then cut to suit, if you're getting a custom cut done. Half of what's worth buying costs more than a G26. Don't rush into it because the tarded format wars of sight mounts are such that you might be pretty much fucked if you decide what you have isn't what you wanted.

Or you could put a Deltapoint Micro on it with no mods at all :cunningpepe:

You could get it cut MOS pattern and then be able to swap later

I'm gonna go against the grain and say that RMR cut will handle most usecases you might possibly have. There are so many different options in terms of RMR-footprint optics that it's almost a hassle to evaluate all the different optics out there, and even if you want to go with an RMSc-footprint optic, you'd still be served the same with an RMR-to-RMSc adapter plate as with the MOS cut, but for a lower cost. I think it sucks ass that Glock doesn't offer RMR or RMSc cuts from the factory unless you're an LE agency or the military.

Of course, RMSc/507K cut for subcompact/micros, for obvious reasons.

So I called and set up that gun smith time... guy told me he's just finished a 416 Rigby.. AR.

He's got customers and retarded as me. <3 <3.

@Biggest Bubba I own 8 mosins and I'm lost.. If you don't want it....I need it. It's some sort of bubba job.

In regards to 380, yeah it's not bad... I almost turned my makarov into it but someone made good SD loads for them and I got into reloading.

Anyone into BP whats up with Nasser rounds?
