The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

My dream godzilla game is a warriors esque game, basically just ganons fury mode from hyrule warriors but with godzilla and instead of racking up just kos you can destroy the enviroment to rack up destruction points or something, mindless simple fun with a bunch of stuff to collect like a warriors game.
But at this point ill take anything that lets you directly control godzilla.

I'm currently watching Singular Point, and uh... It's unique. I wasn't hooked on the first episode, which is never a good sign for me in terms of a show, but I wish so far, that this series was handled with more intrigue. There's too much science mumbo jumbo currently, which I feel isn't the main draw of Godzilla, which is either kaiju fights, or socio-political commentary on Japan. It's not awful, but I think some other ideas could have been conceptualized. Maybe I'll change my opinion at the end of it. I'm only on EP9.

Edit of final thoughts:

It was neat. I liked having Jet Jaguar as a character, that was neat. But I still feel as if the heavy focus on science mumbo jumbo took away from what could have been a really cool concept explored on three fronts. Keep the science stuff in, because ultimately that's what the write wanted, considering he has a PHD. Let that be one plot with the Jet Jaguar team, meanwhile, have a second set of characters who are viewing this from a religious prophecy sort of lens. Mothra and the two heralds that accompany her could be that second cast of characters. Instead of trying to use the McGuffin device (which was low key the Oxygen destroyer), they could be trying to summon Mothra to prevent the catastrophe (Mothra has fought Godzilla in the past, so it's not out of character completely).

So on one hand, we have the science mumbo jumbo team, and Jet Jaguar's story, while running at the same time, the Mothra story line. Mothra Moths were briefly in the show, but I just think it'd be more interesting if these two different groups were racing to solve the same problem through different means; religion & science. The third avenue could focus on one character, and the struggle to survive, something to ground it and take it away from the scifi/paranormal aspects. The struggles of not getting eaten by a flock of Rodan and to show how desperate people can be in the fight for survival. A human element if you will.

Whatever side ends up winning is great and all, but since, if my interpretation is correct, it's like a time-loop, and these events keep repeating, hence why Jet Jaguar was the one who encoded the broadcast signal in the first place so itself can fight Godzilla. This would ultimately reveal that this time-loop happens is to prevent Ghidora from actually destroying the planet or conquering it. Almost like a safety measure. While it appears that this Godzilla is a cosmic horror in a sense, the reveal that the loop exists in the first place to prevent a larger threat would contain more intrigue.

But those are just my thoughts.

Took me a while to find it, but I remember seeing this post after coming out the theater. Thought about it for a while, shit went hard, as the zoomies would say.

"Rev. 13:3 – 'One of his heads appeared to be fatally wounded, but his fatal wound was healed. The whole earth was amazed and followed the beast."

Watched this with an ex and we hated it so much that we had a meme going for like a year, where anytime anything we watched or played started getting into bullshit scifi mumbo jumbo we'd start screaming about the Godzilla molecules.

Only good episode was the Anguirus one and they kill the poor bastard.

Found this on instagram the other day. The caption said it was a meet and greet no other info given and I couldn't find anything on YT about it either. Would love to have seen this and moreover would love to take a stab one day wearing those suits. I'll gladly sweat my ass to be able tromp around in one of those things.

one time I wore a gorilla suit, I can only imagine how insane hot a kaiju suit is

I saw it on the weekend. Not sure how many times I've watched it but still enjoyed it, although some parts of the final battle seem weaker to me now than they did before. Probably one of the better theater experiences though since I think there were maybe 6 other people, we were all spread apart and everyone was quiet which was really noticeable since the movie goes completely silent a few times.

The PS4 Godzilla game may be what you are after.

It has every incarnation of Godzilla up to the 2014 movie version and all the kaiju he fought in the movies as well as Jet Jaguar. You gain experience by destroying structures in the levels and some of them act as environmental hazards.

As a bonus, you can unlock and play as every kaiju in the game.

the showa suits, haruo nakajima could last about a minute in them

the heisei suits were decently lighter and better ventilated so the guy inside could last a little longer. but they had other neat things, like the godzilla vs. biollante suit having exposed wires for lighting up the dorsal spines which zapped kenpachiro satsuma to the extreme. he said it was like getting punched hard in the back of the head every time until they fixed it

I guess they didn't have the version with the onscreen text titles gag, huh? No movie theater within an hour's drive is playing it, so I'm just gonna have to stick to home video as usual. Which sucks, wanted to give my hubby the theater experience.
I heard from a rando online that the job title gag IS intact and subbed on the current 4k version

The text gags are still there. I think the only onscreen text they didn't bother with was in the beginning when the person is streaming going down the slide in the tunnel and then when they show a bunch of posts on social media.
I'm some rando online and yeah. I could've used subtitles for the "English" dialog though. This must be what it's like for Mexicans watching Breaking Bad.
I thought the same, was a little surprised they didn't

I might just shill for the 4K version, then, and I don't even know what system processes it lol. Seriously, why the fuck didn't FUNimation (who dubbed the movie btw) keep the job title gag?

I think I heard it's on an alternative sub track that doesn't usually get pirated? I dunno, funi can shit up a lot of things. Seems like something that's a running joke through the movie and a riff on a signature thing of Anno wouldn't just fall through the cracks accidentally
And I think this was after Anno was keeping Funi on a short leash after he got buttmad at the crowd laughing at gay piano in 3.333333
