Look, we've had this argument for pages before, so I'll cut to the chase. Name five 3D games that came out before the DLSS era that

Weren't ports from an outdated console
Would run at a high-end monitor's refresh rate at its native resolution at whatever the equivalent of a 4070 was back then (i.e. a 2-year-old midrange GPU).

I'll be impressed if you can even find one.
in AAA you can't, oblivion remaster being the way it is already tells a telling tale, especially with the Fallout3 Remaster coming soon™️
for indies you need to comb through alot of shit and slop in a attempt to find any game that fits the criteria but seeing how UE5 pushes you to use lumen on the tutorials... good luck.

framegen became the current crutch of AAA game devs to waste less time optimizing the game and more time thinking on how to chop the game in bits they consider valuable enough to put it in the super special limited edition preorder collector bonus pack.

I figure their Neural Texture Compression shit will be the big new thing on the 60-series. That way they can justify keeping the same VRAM configurations. Plus general improvements to the current software suite.
i mean if you look at the AI-oriented gpu's you can see some nifty specs that would make them prime gaming material if nvidia cut in at least 50% to think of releasing as a enthusiast grade card and people would buy it because it's good shit, but nah they will focus on what you said, people will buy it anyway, jensen and lisa thinks?

Neutral Texture Compression is already running on current cards, just on an experimental driver branch

They're going to need developers to adopt it. I believe AMD and Intel are also working on this.

If it's extremely effective, it could make 6-8 GB feel like 24 GB. But I'm pretty confident that the next generation will see Nvidia, AMD, and Intel all putting 12 GB GDDR7 (four chips) on 128-bit for the low-end (if they make it, Intel has no B380 now), mostly abandoning the 8 GB cards.

Samsung GDDR7 3GB modules now available for DIY purchase in China, RTX 5090 48GB mods incoming?

How do you know what a properly optimized game looks like if nobody's ever made one? How do you know proper optimization is even possible if nobody's ever done it?
doom eternal, played without any problems using a GDDR5 1030 and a ryzen 1500x back when the drmless version was accidentally released, then bethesda patched it...
still have my save too.

Doom Eternal is a PS4 port. The PS4 was already 6 years old in 2020 and therefore quite outdated, so it fails the first condition. What about the second condition? 2018's mid-tier GPU was the 2070, and by 2020, 4K was pretty common.

Ouch, only 72 FPS? Looks like we're in unoptimized slop territory.

what in the hell did i just read.
also i said a 1030 with a 1500x ryzen but you keep moving the conditions to fit your gayness requirements since you mentioned a gaystation console.

You're the one who said 90 fps "fucking sucks." If it can't hit 90 fps on a 2070, it sure as shit can't on a 1030.

EDIT: Looks like a 1030 can only run this game at 30-40 fps...at sub-720p.

If the standard of "proper optimization" is "can hit 30 fps at 720p on a 3-year-old low-end GPU," what are you even complaining about? Almost any game out now can do that.

i said framegen for modern hardware sucks, framegen for old hardware would be dreamy as fuck but it's a impossibility without massive input lag due to the need to sell new shit.
the only numbers i mentioned were the retarded pricings for 10+ year old gpu's being on a similar amount as a modern low end gpu but you do you.

GT1030 has this funny joke where nvidia released a capped version of it after realizing their first batch had clock speeds with a 100/250mhz difference compared to a 1050 for a similar amount of vram unless you compared it to the TI version, the ones released after they realized their "mistake" had over 200/500 mhz difference.

30 fps isn't smooth at all but it's not surprising coming from someone who mentioned a PS4, a optimized game can run smoothly on old toasters but miracle making to a point of running on ancient toasters is a secret that is lost to time.

The 1030 doesn't get enough credit. It powered my childhood PC gaming. Yes it sucked. But it also worked. Just make sure you have lots of system ram for it to dig into and it'll run a lot of games that were released in the time it came out.

You're the one who said it runs impressively well on a 1030, where it runs at 30-40fps. The PS4 version runs at 60 fps. I'm just trying to figure out what you mean by good optimization.

From your past statements:

If a 2025 game runs at 90 fps on a 2025 GPU, that's bad optimization.
If a 2020 game designed for a 2014 game console runs at 40 fps on a 2017 GPU, that's good optimization.

Do I have it right?

Someone bury The Ugly One with his 386.. 😆

if it makes you mati?
YES
you also forgot the 180fps with DLSS 4x framegen, dammit.

the only thing that makes this card interesting is how nvidia fucked up with the v1, other than that a 1080ti/2070+ is much better if you find it for less than 150$ if, and i mean IF you have a oldass pc that you can't arse yourself tossing it away for chinks to melt the parts down, i guess branding and shieet makes these old stuff be seen as valuable by niggers in the used market, it's fucking pain.
