Sam Hyde

And? How does squandering this improve his relationship with Shane? That's an unrelated point.
My real question is why now is Sam trying to branch out. I personally think he does want mainstream level fame, it's why he was so aggressive in trying to get on Rogan. Now he's trying to do the podcast circuit to get popular enough to where Rogan can't snub him any more, not realizing he's sabotaging himself by being a super sperg and reenforcing the belief that he is too wild to have on.

I'll say it again: most of these podcasts appearances aren't entertaining to me, he's in his "I am serious" mode and it just leads to boring race sperg shit. I think the podcast with matan was fun because he tried to do something funny, I liked the hodgetwins podcast because he was obviously a fan and talked about old time YouTube shit like Frank Yang, but otherwise outside of pgl him being himself stinks lol. I'll try to listen to this Harland podcast just for the sake of seeing what lead up to the table flip, but serious Sammy is my least favorite version of him.

Also I really enjoyed ep 5 of EP, other than candy news I thought it was damn funny. During the prom sketch I recognized Charl's gf was his actual wife, was that the case for Eric and Nick?

ALSO my kids love puppy dog pals so Harland gets a pass for that alone.

I'm not defending Sam's behavior, but this is true about being mean spirited. Harland had no intent to just be playful, he clearly meant to be antagonistic. And Sam wasn't legitimately inviting Harland to the show either, he was definitely threatening him. If you look at Harland's eyes you can tell he was obviously really pissed but admittedly hid it pretty well.
Yeah, a run of the mill podcast episode was never going to be the result of them meeting. Some people keep asking why Sam didn’t try to steer the “conversation” into an interesting topic but that’s dumb because Harland was never gonna go along with it, he planned on hammering in the cringe nonsense until Sam broke and the madman actually did it.

Harland Williams: a-choo-choo kazoo Mr. Sam and the clam jam band, I heard you flew in from New Jersey - are your arms tired?

Sam Hyde: ARE YOU A JEWISH, AH GEEZ MY BACK *trt tard rage*
I've heard that somewhere before.

The part people still aren't understanding is that it wasn't just nonsense, some of it was actually pointed insults for the sake of guised humiliation. The priests joke, the cunnilingus technique, and probably more that never got to happen. I'd say Sam brought it on himself by being so focused on Js, but it appears that Harland's script already included these things and they were planned the whole time.

I don't see how so many people are missing this. Sam chimped out and shouldn't have, absolutely, but there's no question that Harland was intentionally trying to piss him off through out the podcast. And, no, it's not the same as his handling of other guests. "You look like you got raped" isn't some kind of dry humor or quirky "tee hee, I said a sexual thing!" comment. It's literally just "You're a faggot" ever so slightly dressed up.

Never in the history of the word has "You look like a bitch who gets raped" been a playful dig that is intended to solicit some kind of playful retort in response. There's nothing even to work with there. It's not like "I noticed you have a pink shirt on, so you must be gay" where there's some actual observation or medium for a reply such as picking out something Harland was wearing and making a similar insult based on that.

It's just blatant shit talking with a veneer of 'comedy' because it's a 'comedy' podcast. So, if you get upset with it, you're going to get told you can't take a joke or you're thinned skinned, even though there's no joke there. So, Sam initially just said "Thank you" which I think is a good dismissal of the it. But, it's obviously irritated him enough that when we get to the "You're a retarded chimp, go dance for me" part, he loses his cool.

How exactly were they pointed insults? Maybe annoying, as raping priests and vagina licking demonstration is something you expect from 90s shock jocks.

Fishtank had me watching in Season 1 but I don't have the time to form the Big Brother obsessive stream watching, so I have no idea if the quality has dropped, but from what I understand it has.
With Fishtank it is more about them accumulating a debt of errors that inevitably has caught up with them. A lot of inexperience and seemingly a pigheaded disinterest in crossing their t's and dotting their i's.
Declining quality itself has not really been the shows problem in my opinion.

Scrolling across this man's account.
I don't know how or why people choose to live life like this.
some people are just addicted to making themselves angry, that guy doesn't have any personal/internal identity so he surrounds himself with stuff that'll piss him off to make him feel like he's "fighting for something". It's sad, ppl like that are so consumed by their own aggression that they don't even know who they'd be without it

Why couldn't Sam Hyde have just brought up some interesting anecdote or started an interesting conversation?
This is my armchair take on the whole thing.
Same Hyde made the critical mistake of confusing someone's bit with their actual self. Maybe this is because he's having this actual problem himself.
My theory about this whole thing is that Hyde thought he'd show up on the podcast of some washed, hacky, irrelevant comedian and dunk on him. This could be funny, but you'd have to pick someone who both lacks self-awareness and actually kinda deserves it (either personally or symbolically.) You'd want to pick someone hacky but not too obvious either. Like rather than clowning on Jeff Foxworthy you might want to pick Bill Engvall instead. Sam's done this kind of thing before with varying degrees of success.
The problem with selecting Harland Williams as a target is that he's only pretending to be a dumb guy. Often times the guys who play the dumb character are the smartest ones in the room. Hyde also seemed to think that just because Williams doesn't say "faggot" all the time that he'd be easily frazzled by offensive speech, again not knowing that a lot of the PG/PG-13 comedians of the 90's still had fucked up senses of humor. Williams has been in the biz for a very long time, and talking about jews, flipping over a table, or trying to bigman him aren't going to phase him.
Williams used his natural obliqueness to his advantage and parried Hyde effortlessly. Hyde usually wins these exchanges by gaining control of the initial conditions of the encounter and maintaining them throughout the exchange. Here, he couldn't do that, his ego cracked, and he had a gorilla-out.

If you come at a master, you better not miss.
