Eric Barone / ConcernedApe is a good example of this in addition to those mentioned (though Carmack is a different breed). He's recently started putting himself in the public eye more, but he just grinded away at Stardew Valley by himself for a long time, didn't seek attention for it, and let the game speak for itself. Nobody cared how good his code was because he didn't talk about how good of a coder he was or how smart he was.

Eric just graduated with a degree in CS, and focused a lot on programming, so he has the chops for the code, while his main barrier was music and art. Meanwhile Toby Fox was the opposite, but both had talents that they had spent years crafting. Eric's tech, and Toby's music both represent massive pillars of game dev.

Also weird how the story of his supervisor apologizing to Joeyray because Mald was talking to him was apparently 4 years into him working at Blizzard.
I believe the supervisor was supposed to be new or something, so didn't know the relationship between the two. I think that's how he explained it after being called out on stream for how it didn't make sense.
