I keep bitching about DK:B but I am completely addicted to the gameplay, despite the fact I think it's repetitive. I hate smashing but I MUST smash all the things. I HAVE to get all the maps. More medals. No balloon count will satisfy me. It's annoying, but I'm also sick rn so it's very easy to fall into patterns that bring dopamine. I become a bigger monkey then smash- then the gold I get from smashing gives me more energy to be a big monkey again. Smash. Get more sparkly stuff. I'm stuck in this loop.
I think that's probably why it's getting high reviews, it's endless dopamine farming.
How exciting-- it's practically a new game to me now! I'll see if my kid likes Kirby 64: Crystal Shards in the meanwhile

Oh wow, thanks! I completely forgot about Kirby and The Forgotten Lands... I actually bought it launch day on the Switch during a time I was very busy and my kid was too young to play anything so I only got like a little bit of time of playing it- but I still have the game so I can pay for the upgrade when it comes out!Next month is the upgraded Kirby and The Forgotten Lands, which he may like better if you are looking to fill the 3D platformer niche. Out of all the upgrades, it may be the only rerelease that has enough extra to warrant getting it on Switch 2.
