Songwriter Alan Bergman has passed away at the age of 99. He (and his co-author wife Marilyn) worked on such classic hits as "You Don't Bring Me Flowers (Anymore)", "The Way We Were", "The Windmills of Your Mind", and the theme songs for both "Maude" and "Good Times".

Sounds fake to me but another possible tuber death ^

Caught in a rip tide, not much you can do except try to swim parallel and across it.
Most people don't know that and struggle against it. Once you waste your muscle energy you're basically fucked. Sounds to me like he was probably actually a decent swimmer but didn't know about riptides.

Some people deliberately ride riptides for fun.

But if you get in a fight with the ocean, you're going to lose.

My guess is he struggled. You should really just chill, or swim sideways. It isn't going to kill you by itself. You almost have to deliberately do dumb shit to drown.

People learn to drive and still get into car accidents.
People are permitted to drive. You can get a driver's license and not speak or read a lick of English. You don't need to know how to operate a manual transmission. You just got to know the right guy to give you a road test and then you've got an easy written test. Then you just have your interpreter tell you the answers.
But if you get in a fight with the ocean, you're going to lose.
I would fight the ocean in a battle of wits. I'm smarter than the ocean, I've seen the ocean's report card. It got 7 C's
