This is not a slight on your post at all but how the fuck do highlights work on this site? I thought it was based on reacts but I've seen important, highly reacted posts go un-highlighted and then there's this post with three reactions getting highlighted. I'm just confused with how the system works at all. Are mods able to manually highlight posts as well?

Highlights are usually automatically selected (they’ll appear with a different color of it was manually selected). But 5 highlights are automatically selected every 5 pages, so when a new page ending in 1 or 6 is opened, the posts in it can be highlighted if they receive a relatively small amount of positive attention in a short time. They usually don’t retain that highlight for very long if this attention isn’t sustained, though being highlighted will result in more attention, especially in a fast-moving thread like this.
I recently had a highlighted post with 3 likes. By some coincidence, a few people in a not-super-fast thread happened to see and click like within ~10 minutes and my post happened to be on a page ending in 1. It didn’t stick around though, c’est la vie

There's something else to this but I can't quite put my finger on it.
