Poor Nick.

Since several people apparently disagree that this happened, here it is. I think this was 2016.

he’s clearly doing a bit about how some people in power throughout history were pedophiles and their positive deeds don’t outweigh the degeneracy they participated in. Where’s the rest of the clip?

Also that was an event done in 2015 I was at where they showed clips almost completed that were going to be in world peace including other work done with Ruse.

Do you seriously think Sam would use MDE’s platform prior to WP to just randomly advocate for pedophilia to an audience without irony?

you would think he would just scrub the episode or wouldn't bother crediting them in the description of the video, I know if it was me I would just clown on him or cut that altogether.
Linking guest socials in the description is a bare minimum courtesy. Besides people rarely read the description. The goal of the appearance was to introduce MDE to new audiences, and regardless if it is a bit or not, acting like an insecure alpha male and having your plug cut out doesn't seem like a good first impresson.

The thing about a comedy act is if nobody can tell it was an act, and no ample evidence suggests it was, it's not an act anymore. You are just this weird guy who got furious because some out-of-shape boomer started discussing gorilla nests.
If it's ALL scripted, then Sam expects too much from his audience. The way I see it:

- Sam actually got upset during the podcast and tried to "assert dominance" by breaking shit and wrestling an old guy. It's not out of character for him to act this way and he often talks about manhandling people who couldn't win against him in a real fight (including women).
- Nick was visibly embarrassed and the barely audible "we're good for it" was sincere. However, I will admit that I got fooled by the part in his Scuffed Realtor podcast where he pretended to be overly frustrated. I only saw the short clip and I should've known better.
- never heard of Harland before, but he seems to be an expert tard wrangler and handled the situation very well. I would've told Sam to leave right after the desk flip. There were at least three other guys to talk to, so fuck him.

The MATI analysis of this convinced me it wasn't staged. The look of horror and embarrassment on Sams friends faces tells me its real. As does Sam only stoppign when he sees them reacting like that to him. Sam is just a violent sped who needs to dominate anyone he talks to to feel good about himself
Idk you may be right, just seemed like cringe bullshit to me, a lot of these people gamify the yt algorithm. Seemed plausible and I just read the situation as fake, considering the other dumb stuff I've seen him do like smashing bottles and punching doors and shit. I'm not overly familiar beyond cursorily watching some of his recent podcast appearances and watching world peace like 10 years ago. The one he did where he brought Mayhem Miller (who i thought was dead dude lol) seemed to get a much more genuine reaction of irritation from him. If you haven't watched it, he makes racial jokes and the big former UFC champion immediately stops him and tries to debate him, which goes about as well as you'd expect.
Sam's schtick demands he roleplay as this hip, savvy, subversive alpha-male caricature. Favorable circumstances include doing stand-up where he tells college students homophobic science, TED talks where he drops sociopathic redpills, or speaks truth to power by telling Elon Musk his company likes H-1B labor too much.

Favorable circumstances don't include him being enraged by an actual comedian to the point of destroying property. The thing about a comedy act is if nobody can tell it was an act, and no ample evidence suggests it was, it's not an act anymore. You could be right, dude, I was kind of hoping somebody in here might have some inside baseball info from their private forum or stuff they do from their pay walled website (ain't no way I'm paying that nigga money to watch his shit lmao). That's definitely a character I've seen him do and it's pretty cringe. Nothing is giga chad alpha male like being a man in your 40s who goes on podcasts and yells lol. That being said I have see way worse examples of that from the Roganverse. You'd be surprised how incestuously connected the podcast sphere is, in my limited knowledge of Hyde, I only know of him peripherally from his friendship and collaboration with both Nick Mullen/Adam Friedland and Shane Gillis/Matt McCusker. I suspect there's a certain level to which Sam Hyde's personal politics or ideology bleed through, but as somebody not familiar with his stuff a lot of it comes across as Andy Kaufman-esque performance art designed to get people talking about him for free publicity and word of mouth. I don't think, based on everything I've read, that they're hurting for money, they're already filming a third season of their sketch show, they have Jeet Neptroon's gay money farm reality show for dimwits, their paywall and podcast seem to do reasonably well by the standards of these things. If anybody knows differently or has additional information, it would be great to hear it.

I think Sam could still have some Bitcoin left. He was already talking about it when it was worth a tiny fraction of what it's worth now (about $120k). He rents a big studio or even a whole building (I don't know, I don't follow him that closely), pays multiple employees and own a few vehicles. I doubt he could afford it all without BC.

According to him he puts basically all "extra" money he has in bitcoin and has been for a long time.

Andy Kaufman-esque performance art
I hadn't thought about Kaufman in a really long time and you sent me down a feely rabbit hole.
Remember how one of his biggest bits was wrestling women and being the "inter-gender champion" or something like that?
Even though Kaufman basically peaked how convoluted and weird a comedian could be, the world became weird beyond even his understanding decades later and it wasn't even a joke.
And time moves on. That's life!

True, but if you watch enough of these comedy podcasts you'll quickly come to the realization the pool of people who watch them is much smaller than you think. I think a typical episode of the Harland Williams podcast gets like 15k-30k views, the one he just did with MDE is almost at 350K views so it's 23x what his normal viewcount would be.

Of all of the Roganverse comedians and comedy audiences, Rogan far and away has the largest probably in direct competition with MSSP (the Shane Gillis/Matt McCusker podcast). I personally disagree with the idea they're trying to get on Joe Rogan, or this was them "blowing their big break, man." Rogan has already talked about him and their new MDE show in an episode he did not long ago with Shane Gillis. Harland is much closer to Tony Hinchecliff, and his crowd who is also Rogan-adjacent. if I had to guess where they might try to go next if they continue pursuing the podcast bro audience, that would be my guess, maybe this episode was a dry run to try and get on Kill Tony (I personally doubt they would get on there, but who knows, there are a lot of other adjacent podcasts that would be more receptive to MDE's comedy like Legion of Skanks).

In terms of audience size, him going on those manosphere/MAGA podcasts Bradley Martin, Hodge Twins, and Primetime with Alex Stein put him in front of more eyeballs than going on this podcast possibly would have.

The video somebody posted either in this thread or the other thread of Rochefort talking about "blowing it for Adult swim, man, it's all over for Netflix" - I'm sorry to burst the bubble is just him either doing damage control by being ironic or just having a laugh. There's no shot they get back in with the Williams Street producers at Adult Swim or get a Netflix contract, was never on the table at all. Honestly, I have no idea ever how much traction they get on their new show because I have no access to any metrics to measure it by, aside from the rough estimate that you can make from how much their paywalled podcast pulls in and superchats from the reality show which seems to have a dedicated audience (I think that shit sucks so hard, what little I have seen through clips on xittter, personally). Any additional insights anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

A woman who works/associated with The Harland Highway, amber (@amberratcity), uploaded this promo video for the podcast episode with Sam Hyde:

I think she was the girl that started filming on her phone after Sam built the gorilla nest.

Interestingly the music she chose for the post is by Vance Latte the FT contestant. That's a really deep cut of mdesphere knowledge, knowing that Vance makes music (it's good).

She also follows Sam's current insta and his old abandoned insta account. Idk exactly when but he completely abandoned it several years ago so there's no point to following it now. She also follows all the mde guys in the picture they posted, even damiel lol.

Harland's producer being confirmed a fan of Sam/Fishtank.
Amber is mentioned in the Sam Hyde episode of the Harland Highway Podcast on at least four occasions; Sam is the first one to bring her up by name:
Scissors for the loose thread (14:16):
Sam: Can we ask Amber? Hey, Amber.
Harland: Amber. Scissors immediately. Thank you.
The now infamous gorilla twigs for the gorilla nest (28:19):
Harland: Amber, bring in the gorilla twigs, please.
Cookies (with seed oil) request (30:53):
Harland: Oh, Amber, bring some cookies.
Sam: Amber. *claps twice*
Amber filming via her camera, as @Swamp_Donkey has mentioned (31:10):
Harland: Keep rolling, Amber.

It's not about the limited fan pool you dolt, it's about proving that you can go on a mainstreamish show and not bomb, be a boring retard, become combative, or in this case all of the above.
This is a mirror of what happened when Ethan Klein interviewed Bill Burr.

I got news for you dawg, if you're going on da Twinpod with the Hodge twins to talk about "da joos," doing impressions of black people (in blackface) and dropping "nigger" with the hard R on your xitter account with the handle @wigger and doing a bumper for your show where you have a guy dressed like a caricature of a chinese man in a rice paddy hat and yellow-face with buckteeth, I suspect you're not trying to "go on a mainstreamish show" and certainly not by going on the small podcast of a former character actor to do it if you are.

I get that a lot of people hate this guy, but if I could get some real talk or information and not purely opinion that would get super. No need to get personally insulting bro lol

If he was actually pissed with the guy, you would think he would just scrub the episode or
If he was pissed with the guy why in the world would he cut the episode that makes the guy look like a deranged retarded gorilla?
wouldn't bother crediting them in the description of the video,

But he WOULD bother to individually cut out every single plug inside the video itself..? That seems like way more "bother" than adding a link to the description.
