i went to church as a teenager and it was an episcopal church. it's not a community like a fucking kibbutz there's church and sunday school and youth group and that was really like a thin attempt at getting the six young people together to have some vague third pillar outside of school and their immediate neighborhood. i think where a lot of people get mistaken is that church literally is just an excuse to put on a barbecue or eat donuts with a bunch of loosely like minded people together. all of the elaborate liturgy is just a shit test so the people around you aren't mouth breathing retards. pretending it has to have some kind of important purpose is kind of part of why those megachurches get so successful - because they aren't providing any tangible community prospects, they're just big, and Big Things Are Important to simple minded people.
