A lot of her time might be spent daydreaming that she's Vanitas, which really isn't escapism at all when you think about it. He's just Pixy in fanfiction form. I think she's trying to look like a man. Like the old "Men have no emotions" thing. Remember that her ideas of men and women are as black and white as an episode of I Love Lucy.
