Watched the Gorilla Nest podcast with SO.

Sam Hyde made us laugh when he:

• Failed to appropriate a piece of paper from a frail old Boomer and then sat there with a literal F.E.L.T.E.D. face
• Failed to physically enforce his will on a frail old Boomer

We laughed at the frail, old Boomer about 7-11 times. The awkward Asian kid got 2 laughs out of us, prompted by Harland. We laughed at Nick's "I want to fucking die God please kill me now" faces about 6 times.

Alright, here's some theory crafting. I have no vested interest in MDE outside of believing they at one time (and still potentially) had/have the best aesthetic direction and comedic writing for their time. I've been largely disappointed with everyone's content since the adult swim fiasco, with enough good bits here and there to keep me interested. I did spend a stupid amount of money on their most recent pre order merch drop, but again, I think they still have an eye for cool art, and I haven't had a chance to cop any of their stuff until this run. Charls is interesting, but he comes off as too mentally ill. Nick I feel is a funny guy, but he's putting himself out there way too much especially with this scuffed realtor thing. Hayden and Schultz are funny, but they feel a little out of place, in some ethereal way I can't quite pin down. Sam has become too self important, he needs to actually take himself down a peg or two and STOP PUTTING ON YOUR SERIOUS HAT.

That being said, what Sam did on Harlands podcast was probably the right call. The chemistry wasn't there from the beginning. Sam, and MDE by extension, should not be trying to ingratiate themselves into "old hollywood" or the retired comedian podcast circuit. Do you really want a serious Sam Hyde appearance on the JRE? Flipping over Harlands desk was no more of a sperg out than that recorded call with Joe Bernstein, and if anything it was more nostalgic and reminiscent of old MDE than extreme peace, PGL, the palace, scuffed realtor, etc. And it is actually pretty funny that Sam acted like an asshole to some washed up comedian.
