Artcow Ken Penders - Former Archie Sonic Comic Writer/Artist

So, if I'm not mistaken, Sonic's dad was the first subject because he got fucked up hard during the war.
Ah right, Sonic's Uncle Chuck invents the machine that turns living beings into fascist robots. The whole hedgehog bloodline is this parade of well-meaning morons.

You also forgot how some got turned into robots, because being machines means they wont be hurt by radiation.
And then they got murdered from a nuke sent by Station Square. This happened because the writer for the issue just didn't know some of overlanders were robotized and still needed saving at some point in a future issue. And that was just the first genocide accidentally implied in the comic because of poor writing.

Oh man I forgot about Sonic's Uncle. As I recall he was part of the "bible" they were supposed to follow when Sonic came to the west, but everyone just ignored it. That's where the chillidogs came from. Who the hell wrote that thing in the first place?
A Degenerate alcoholic who was desperate to impress a washed up loser of a cartoonist.

Eh, being turned into a robot for a TEMPORARY fix isn't the dumbest thing in the comic. That would be the endless Echidna drama that ended up with their complete genocide.
To be fair, the entirety of the Acorn Kingdom's rulers are too naive or too stupid to live, with only Sally as the exception (and then she got shafted by having Penders make up a male heir no-one knew about until now, nevermind the slap).

Ah, yes, that black midget hated so much that he was nuked alongside all of these extras no one cares about, kek.
Also, nope, not the first accidental genocide IIRC. That would be Sonic and friends abandoning the desert resistance fighters to die to hordes of mad robots because they were jerks at Sonic for no reason (Sonic apologized later, funnily enough).

Oh yeah... I barely remember the background for this guy. But I think they just got bored of making Uncle Chuck the only STEM guy in the Sonic canon, so they cooked up Nate as a secondary benchwarmer inventor. When Bunnie Rabbot’s cybernetics start getting rejected by her body he helps her replace her limbs.

I don’t think he does anything after that. Just disappears into the Knothole background like every other C-lister introduced pre-Eggman. Too bad none of those guys had any staying power. Ixis Naugus fucking sucked, Elias looked cool but that's it. Sonic’s dad was uhhh...

It actually goes a lil' further; the original robotizer was made as means to "heal" those who were terribly injured in the war. So, if I'm not mistaken, Sonic's dad was the first subject because he got fucked up hard during the war. With Robotnik later selling the BS how making him the T800 was a good turnabout, instead of him remaining a cripple for the rest of his life.

I'll say Ken's biggest embarassement would still be the future arc.
I don't want to offend you and I'm sorry, if I missed it in the thread, but can I ask what's your relationship to his comics is? I honestly don't remember everything from the comics and didn't fact check you, but it seems like you have very deep knowledge about the lore.
Do you see it as entertaining, because it's ridiculous, or do you completely condem his work? (My English is not good enough to not make this sound accusatory, sorry!)

For some reason Twitter refuses to give me a working link, but Ken recently postet a Shadow artwork that looks pretty good for his standards, but also some artwork that really disproves the notion of his traditional superhero artwork looking better:

(Is it traced like his other Shadow artwork?)
This Superman is super uncanny, but I honestly really like it in a weird way.

Elias looked cool but that's it.
Saddest part, Elias really got to shine after Ken was booted, like him commanding this whole black ops unit to aid the Freedom Fighters and showing hes actually a good swordsman.

Ah, yes, that black midget hated so much that he was nuked alongside all of these extras no one cares about, kek.
Aka Midget Morgan Freeman, who did things like: help Bunnie, be a teacher when Sonic and co had to go to school and tried to talk Eggman out of being a dick.

I kinda find it entertaining because of how batshit insane stuff would get, its like watching two trains collide and you just cant look away, so all good, no need to apologise. Also, that artwork ya posted, Im pretty sure aint his, I think this was done by another artist at the time, cause I recall it in one Archie issue while it was doing a recap of a storyline.

Don't do midget morgan freeman dirty like that, he can't help being a tiny morgan freeman.

Could you imagine if he just got his head crunched here? Like just grabbed and squeezed like a grape?

EDIT: FUCK SOMEONE BEAT ME TO CALLING HIM MIDGET MORGAN FREEEMAN

He's currently selling it as prints at a convention and he did do artwork for comics he didn't write. So I'm inclined to believe him on that one. I'd hope he'd steal better artwork.

Ye, Im looking at this artwork and its from Sonic Archie issue 145, Penders aint listed as the artist for this, just as a writer.

Oh yeah... Which part of the future arc? Because you guessed it, of course Penders did more than one part to it: I think the 10 years later and then 20 years later? Something like thst, one book set a number of years later after the original's current events and another 10 more years later with Shadow as the bad guy... Or do you mean the whole Silver the Hedgehog stuff or the whole mess that was Enerjak? Because there's at least three alternatives you might mean when saying "future arc"

The infamous beiny one where Sally and Julie are reduced to housewife status, cause there Ken proudly flies his feminist flag. The one with Shadow was very weird, specially making a religion based on Maria, him somehow getting married to Sally, also since he never met Sonic and others he remained an evil dbag (which raises the question why he didnt blow up Mobius)

The first one is from Penders, where nothing really happens until the very end, then it cancels itself. Also, don't forget that maid who was a fuck-ugly brown koala subtle as a brick, kek.
The second one is Flynn retconning it into Sonic being a hobo and a loser to make it radically different for... Reasons.

They tried to explain how changes occured was because of the whole timestream being messed up the moment stepped into the weird energy thing in Penders run, hence why only Sonic and Lara-su recall how things were cause them being more intuned with Chaos energy.

The Penders run was so deranged that if a modern character so much as alludes to one of his storylines, they absorb trace amounts of ambient Ken radiation.

An thats why one of the reasons some of his plotlines were dropped, resolved or trying to use em for better setup material, plus trying to cut down on the diluge of characters Ken loved pumping out.

I don’t blame you for not knowing this. SatAM was watched by maybe 11 kids total. But yeah, Uncle Chuck shows up in that show. The whole thing with Chuck is that he was around when Robotnik did the coup, and it's basically Sonic’s tragic anime backstory. Like, he’s not just fighting evil for fun, he's doing it 'cuz Uncle Chuck got robo-cucked into becoming a surveillance goon. And then at some point they deprogram him, and he becomes their man on the inside.

Now, in the comics they spend like a hundred issues trying to de-roboticize Uncle Chuck. They finally do it, only to immediately drop Sonic into the exact same scenario with his dad. Like, “Oh good, we cured Chuck of being a robot. Anyway, here’s this other hedgehog you love who’s also now a robot. Enjoy the trauma loop.” It's literally the same, one has a mustache, the other doesn't.
