There's something I want to voice that I'm not sure how to word.
While he definitely fucked up on a legal level in some places, the "VShojo has failed" statement is MUCH more introspective than equivalent 'responses' you get from people or companies under fire anywhere else. Usually when a company or a person fucks up, their response is some variation of
- Other people made a mistake that affected us, but we did everything right (Ex: Sinder)
- There may have been some minor growing pains, but overall, we are doing better than ever (Ex: Blizzard)
- There is no problem, all the negative PR is lies and slander made up by racists and sexists who hate us because of how virtuous we are (ex: Ubisoft)
- This thing you say is bad is actually a good thing and you are a bigot for implying otherwise (ex: Nick Rekieta)
It's always deny that anything went wrong, pretend the problem doesn't exist and attack anyone who says otherwise. And here's a statement that actually acknowledges that mistakes were made. It's a breath of fresh air and the fact nobody acknowledges that feels weird to me.
If this were anything other than vtubing, people would at least commend them for admitting that there's a problem.
