You all can sperg about California all you want, but the reality is that Basic Becky, with her legal cohabitating spouse who is a lawyer making six figures, will not qualify for any sort of domestic violence assistance, shelter, benefits, or handouts. As far as they’re legally concerned, this is a dispute between roommates and/or estranged parents.

Becky is legally married to Jackson and is not separated or estranged from him. She also has support (emotionally) from Jackson’s family as we have established that his mom is helping them out with little things. Any social service will be able to ascertain this information and laugh her out of the room. They will tell her and Jackson to use his salary for moving expenses, or to temporarily shack up with his family. They might give her a number for a legal hotline for restraining orders, but they won’t be giving her jack shit.

Just, if Daniel were the petty abusive asshole Becky is painting him out to be, he'd actually be trying to abandon his daughter. Which might be possible, because of their weird loony Californian 2-father birth certificate. A more traditional family court in a red state, just might revert it back to Becky's (legal) husband, the first father listed on the birth certificate.

EDIT: a bit of Google-ing has revealed that only 12 states currently acknowledge a 3 parent birth certificate. Texas obviously not being one of them.

Not that I think this is going on here, but that’s simply not true. Plenty of abusive assholes (of both sexes) go for custody just to hurt the other parent/for material gain. See the recent case of Harmony Montgomery if you want to know the worst that can happen there. Actually it kind of is happening here, but in reverse…we all know Becky resents that baby but she’s exactly the type that would try to get full custody just as a “fuck you” to Daniel.

Nah, there's no eugenicist ideology at work here, people think incest is gross based on a taboo that dates back to smaller sized and more localized populations where people had ten times as many kids. From a completely rational point of view based entirely on probability of genetics with modern contraception is this a taboo that probably doesn't need legal enforcement anymore, yeah, probably, but most people are still going to think it's gross and should not be encouraged like a whole bunch of other shit in the world.
