Cody gets the worst of the abuse overall. But I think the shit they pull with Emma is equally as awful. In the video where they all slap each other, dad there is just totally fine with his much older son decking his little daughter full on in the face to the point where she's bawling. And he makes no efforts to comfort her whatsoever. Correct me if I'm wrong but girls can be really fragile at that age, both physically and emotionally. If Cody ends up shooting up a school from the bullshit he puts up with then Emma might be right there shooting things with him.

It's just disgusting. I wish more was done about this. No one should have to live with a dad that has all the wit and intelligence of a young teenager and a spiteful harpy of a stepmother that takes pleasure out of torturing small children.

I look at situations like this, genuine child abuse and I always think "where's captain white knight Sam Smith and his blog o doom? Where's the outrage from greta or oliver? Where's Wu and her moonrock spouting Twitter account."

I thought we were supposed to be the internet baddies, the mean people of the interwebz. We shouldn't be fighting against child abuse, we should be advocating it.

And then I realise that every time someone says "kiwi farms are naughty evil people", I realise they only say that because they're directly affected.

Child abuse? Well it's not happening to me so I don't need to be involved. Calling someone a pedo in a satire format? REEEEEEEEE *Several hundred gay blog posts, thousands of spam messages, teaming up with ACTUAL advocates of kiddy fiddlers, handfuls of DMCA takedowns, patreons everywhere, safe spaces as far as the eye can see*.

And when I see all that, I'm glad I'm part of this community. I'm glad I don't get my fucking panties in a twist over meaningless shit and instead, I'm here helping document lolcows that can potentially do more harm than being a meanie on the internet.

Emma actually does seem very shy or... I don't know... it almost looks like she's constantly on edge. The fact that she burst into a sob because they soaked her with water and ruined the pretty picture she was trying to draw shows she probably is quite fragile. You also have to remember she is new to this family. She's only been there less than two years. Imagine the change in her life where now she has all these people, including her own father, bullying her daily. It's tragic. I am afraid for her when she gets older and starts to look more like her real mother. That horrible beast of a step-mother will probably make her life Hell.

They put up a vlog on the teamDO5 facebook page of the landwhale talking and the good moments with Cody. I couldn't listen to it. I think I need to just walk away from this. It's making me too angry.

On the heels of what I was saying, I also get weird vibes from the way Jake the oldest interacts around Emma. I remember reading some comments speculating whether or not he's tried to touch her. I may be reaching but the way he acts around her is genuinely uncomfortable to watch and it would explain some of her more fragile reactions to her environment. She just seems either really timid or terrified out of her mind whenever the camera is on her. I dunno man. Jake's a major creep and he seems to get just as much joy in tormenting his youngest siblings as his parents do.

This is minor, but I really hate how the family all wear "Team DO5" shirts, especially Cody. It's so narcissistic. Like, musicians on tour don't wear their concert tees on stage.

Also, making Cody wear one is just sick. "Here, kid! We just love to pick on you, bully you, beat on you, and torture you emotionally for those sweet sweet adbux, wear a shirt advertising our channel!"

This is only my hypothesis, but I think Heather thinks she's the better mother. It might be like someone else said... Heather is jealous of the real mother because she had Mike's children. That's a connection that Heather didn't have with Mike and that this other woman did. If the story is to be believed, it sounds like the real mother was trying to do the right thing by bringing Mike back into their lives. Sounds like she was even asking for his help with Cody. That would require communication between these exes. I'm betting that evil landwhale didn't like that. If they get the children and the ex is cut out, it's almost like the history between Mike and this other woman is erased. Except now she has these children that aren't hers, that don't look like her, are a daily reminder that Mike had once cared for and maybe even loved another woman, and so she takes that jealous anger out on those kids, Cody especially because he is the most defiant to the "pranks" and the nonsensical discipline. He questions them constantly and it doesn't seem that the other kids do that at all. Cody is probably the smartest person in that house and he has been harder to break than the other kids.

She's just plain evil is the short answer, I guess.
This seems pretty spot on. She probably had low self-esteem or self-worth, and knowing that Mike had a whole different life before her probably drove her insane and she wanted his whole past all to herself. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she had something to do with the abuse escalating.
I'm sure Mike was always abusive considering his past, but Heather probably encouraged it and made it even worse. Not only did it help get her frustrations out concerning Mike's former family (that would make sense why that clearly scripted video they posted on Twitter had the livestream with Cody and Emma's mom playing in the background), but once they realized they could lure in young, naive kids on Youtube who would find a bunch of little children crying amusing, she also saw dollar signs.

Both Mike and Heather are horrible people, but I definitely agree that Heather is just 100% awful with no redeeming qualities. Mike probably cares for his kids, but he has way too many issues that are left untreated which probably makes him think abusing his kids is a-okay.

This was on another article, not sure if anyone has linked it here. It looks to be legit and is supposedly from a friend of the biological mother. If it is real then I am all for her getting the kids back.

It's worth noting that Cody and Emma honestly look SO much happier in all the photos in the slideshow posted on that gofundme than they do in any pictures with Mike, Heather, and the 3 stepbrothers that have been shared. It makes me pretty sad.

this makes so much sense. also isn't it odd that cody and emma call the bowling ball "mom" after only living with her for a short time...and having a real mom? i remember amy (mike's ex in between bio mom and heather) saying that mike wanted her son to call him "dad" right away as a form of possessive behavior. creepy.

I'm not even sure if Cody comprehends that he isn't having a normal childhood. If you look at the apology video, he clearly speaks up several times without queues, defending his mom and dad. I think he goes through phases of loving his family, and then short bursts of hating them. Its pretty typical of emotionally abused children. There's definitely weird mind games at work. Thats what makes this case so fucked up for me, the parents are completely unaware of the damage they're doing to the children and the children wont realize they're having a fucked up childhood until its far too late.

lmfao I just noticed that Mike changed his Facebook name from "Michael Christopher" to "Mark Thomas." He's not very good at hiding.

and Heather appears to have hidden any photos of her with her bio kids on her page. I guess neither of them got the memo that both their pages were already archived.

great thanks for putting that image into my head mate i already hate this family enough :cryblood:

This is only my hypothesis, but I think Heather thinks she's the better mother.

Nick's article on the whole affair makes that pretty clear. Though I don't think Mike is a cuck who brought his old kids in because the new missus demanded it. Personally I think it's greedier than that, he knew Cody would be easier to wind up (and possibly Emma) - so they hatched the youtube plan then brought those poor kids into the fold.

[gets in the amateur psychologist armchair]

It sounds a lot like Mike never got to have a stable childhood, his birth parents were a mess and rejected him (plus abuse), and I guess he had no proper support to deal with issues stemming from that. He seems almost *jealous* that his own son was getting help and support for his problems, and punishes him for expecting/anticipating help.

I didn't watch any of the videos but did see the reupload of "Cody did bad at school!" and the bit where Mike gets the school report really shows it. Any sane parent would realize that's not the time to yell at your kid, self harm is the point at which you stop and try to understand why your kid feels a need to scratch and harm themselves. Instead he freaks out and his first thought is to berate the child for even attempting to say "I was finding the classroom environment difficult to work in" - yelling how nobody will care about his problems and that he should just deal - like I guess Mike did.

Heather in her correspondance with Rose seems to have some weird idea that she needs to boast and flout to Rose about being the better woman, when I imagine all Rose wanted was for her kids to have a relationship with their dad. She probably thought that Mike would sympathise with Cody's problems and want to help him, not punish him because he's been at least been taught to cope with his problems better.

I really don't understand the situation in which a stepmother with that sort of envy then decides "I want these kids to myself" however.

I was a little bit lazy with updating the OP lol. The archives as well as the videos that were originally in there have all been added back in. Thanks again @tehpope!
That's not my archive BTW. Someone on Reddit I think did it. I just mearly provided the link, which someone else in the thread posted before (@DICKPICSRUS)

This really bugged me. And the way Heather bragged to Rose Hall how Cody, child that this poor woman raised alone for so many years, thinks of her as his new mom now. This is something only a spiteful, hateful bitch would do. It's startling that she would say such a thing considering that she has children of her own, she should have at least a little bit of empathy.

"I am not trying to replace you or hurt you."
But i'm still going to take him away from you.

And poor, poor Emma. She must feel so powerless to everything that is happening. I can't imagine what is going through this child's head. She lost her mother, is forced to call a stranger mom, has an abusive imbecile for a dad and her brothers are being encouraged to annoy the shit out of her. Her crying just broke my heart. I really hope her mother is as good of a person as she makes herself to be and takes those kids back. A little girl needs her mother, especially at such a tender age.

Fuck these people. Anybody can dump their load into a garbage can, it takes more than that to be a fucking half-decent parent. The kids have less than a grain of hope with these sacks of shit for guardians. It's pathetic how the guy is saying they're being attacked now.

I really hope it works out for the kids, but unfortunately I understand statistics enough to know better. Hope these parents animals wake up in an even colder sweat than the ones their kids probably already do every night because of them for the rest of their miserable lives.

And to think that there are people in this world who actually want kids, but can't have them. (:_(

Amy's son doesn't seem to be the only one.
I was curious and decided to look at the oldest son's facebook and found posts from 2013 where he refers to Mike as "dad" and goes on and on in several posts about how wonderful he is. Mike and Heather didn't get married until January 2014 so Mike probably did the same thing with her kids (and Heather was probably more than happy to do the same to Cody and Emma when they came into the household).

Of course September-December aren't too far away from January, but it still seems a little odd that he would be going on and on about how great his "dad" is when Mike wasn't even his stepfather yet, and he already seemingly had a "dad" (and I'm pretty sure Heather's divorce wasn't finalized until mid-2013? I could be mistaken).

sidenote, I think I found Heather's ex husband/her kids' biological dad on Facebook (archive). Looks to be a firefighter in Baltimore and went to the same high school that Jake supposedly goes to. There aren't any public posts about this mess though, so might not be much but still interesting.
