I'm not gonna lie, nothing would make me happier than to see Jake cry like a little bitch. I think they have footage of just about every single kid crying and screaming except Jake (and maybe Ryan, who is almost a non-entity at this point. Nobody gives a fuck about Ryan).

I just hate that smug little turd-sucker. Probably because he's blatantly the favorite. He's the Golden Child and can do no wrong, and he seems dumb as a post on top of that. He gleefully participates in the deliberate ripping of any kind of family structure. He reminds me way too much of actual kids I knew and went to school with who grew up and became nothing, but made sure to make everybody else around them miserable on the way.

Has anyone mentioned how much (current) gay slang Ryan seems to use? He often will throw out a YAAASS or something similar in a lot of videos. It happens often enough and he does it so casually that I can't help but suspect he is closet-gay. Also there is something wrong with him too ( all these kids are fucked). In one video- can't remember which- Mike is lifting his mattress and looking under his bed only to find about 7 or 8 empty cans of soda. Similar to Cody having candy wrappers under his. Obviously the kid is fatter than the rest of his siblings. But why is he binge eating and hiding it? I realize he is a sub-character to all this drama but there is so much going wrong in this family.

Considering how commonplace the word "Yas" has become it's doubtful its an indicator. Maybe if he was saying shit like "Hunty" or even "Bye felica", but again maybe. Even then saying slang doesn't mean anything.

There's really only one thing the kids can do to keep their sanity; Emma and Cody should promise to have each other's backs. In a place where no one sticks up for them, knowing you have someone on your side will help a bit.

Jake's behavior feels pretty disturbing to me. He's more aggressive than kids at his age typically are and he displays almost sociopathic levels of not giving a shit when it comes to tormenting his smaller weaker siblings. If anything, he gets off on it.

What I hate the most is that these kids seem to have no distinct sibling bond with each other. They're all out to backstab each other with no remorse whatsoever. In a shitty family situation like this, it would be a useful coping strategy if they were to find comfort in a strong relationship with each other. But since mom and dad are such assholes, they've basically created a Darwinistic environment of survival in which the kids all clobber each other so that they have the chance to avoid future torture.

That is really sad, isn't it? As long as the abuse is being directed on one kid the rest of them are safe, so naturally the rest of them are going to join in to keep the abuse directed away from themselves, even if that means joining in on the abuse. It's survival of the fittest in that house. They will sell each other out for the slightest thing. We've seen Emma sell out Cody a few times, Cody has done the same to Emma, and the other kids have probably been doing that their entire lives. Jake is different. He's always in on the torment, never the victim. I'd say that's his way of keeping Mike off of his back, but he seems to enjoy it too much. I'm scared for any woman who picks him in the future.

I forgot about that. Hiding food can be a symptom of neglect or instability. Even if the home is full of food, a child might hide food if; they've been withheld a meal as a punishment, if the parents are too strict about when the kids can eat, if the parents aren't regularly making meals and just letting the kids forage, if the kids are picked on for what they eat/their weight and being prohibited from eating things that the parents are allowed to eat.

It's not normal for kids to deliberately hide food. The way it was depicted, looks like a common enough occurrence that the parents check for it regularly and even know where to look.

Eh I wouldn't consider that a sign of anything. It's pretty common for kids to try and sneak extra snack foods they aren't supposed to have and hide the evidence - especially if they want to hide them from their many siblings who might get to them first. Those cans could have been there for months for all we know.

I agree. If he was hiding actual food it'd be one thing. It's soda pop so I wouldn't think too much about it. My son used to steal sweets and pop all the time until we had to stop buying it, and he was anything but deprived.

You all are probably right. I knew I was reaching a bit and this is probably the more correct response. It is hard to not read too much into everything considering the parents are so horrible.

imho, Jake strike me more as the ricky rodriguez type, as he already has so much fun jumping in tormenting emma and cody. cody on the other hand seems emotionally broken, but not as broken enough to not feel empathy anymore.

There were people who saw it and spoke out, some on forums, some in Reddit, some made YouTube videos calling it out for what it was as early as a month after the channel first appeared. No one cared. In fact, the little DO5 creepy fans would spaz out and majorly down vote the videos. No one listened or wanted to touch it until Philip DeFranco did his video. Sad but true.
