Or you can use the environment friendly cardboard model ($25):

And no, you can't play VB games on your Soytch 2 without that. Nintendies are the biggest goys, and Nintendo sure sees them that way.

Crossposting, but does all this make Nintendo the worst company now?

Don't know if I'd go so far as to call them the EA of Japan.

I don't know if Nintendo puts anti-cheats in their games that makes them break and unplayable, like how EA's Anti-Cheat literally broke FIFA 23 and needed to be fixed so people could play the game. And let's not even get into the recent wave of the Secure Boot requirement bricking people's computers with the BF6 demo.

Has greed completely broke their minds?! The Virtual Boy? They are grave digging this abomination just so they can excuse selling a reproduction plastic shell for $100 to put the Switch inside and experience the nostalgia of eye strain and headaches caused by looking at the worst VR experience ever devised by man. Is there even an option to play the games on the screen without the headset gimmick?

You didn't think they had gone overboard when they overcharged for an alarm clock just because you can make it play the World 1-1 track to wake you up?

Not sure if I'd say the complaint about the games is that valid once you do all the comparisons. Besides being cheaper than the games were at launch [50 dollars each], these are not just cloned ports like the ones in the Virtual Console - besides the extra story content, they added an assist mode for people who want to make it easier and amiibo support, plus the free Switch 2 upgrade.

I don't think I'm changing anyone's mind - it doesn't cost less than what it did in the Wii U anyway [not that I ever even had that one] - but it's not like you're literally paying 20-30 extra to get exactly the same experience as that one.

They most absolutely do this, in fact they've been doing this since the NES days with piracy.

Want to mod Dr. Mario? Too bad, if even one of your hexidecimals is off, enjoy your new paperweight.

Hell, the entire point of "Nintendo Seal Of Approval" was so bootleg carts wouldn't work. (that didn't stop bootlegers anyway though)

What a way to celebrate Mario’s 40th anniversary. Announce a movie which isn’t a game, 2 rereleases that should’ve been on the Switch a while ago, a Mario sports game that has been shit for a while now, and a non Mario game, with no new Mario game announced.

Didn't the original Virtual Boy make people blind?

Unlike modern VR headsets that use eye tracking to auto adjust focus and align to the user's interpupillary distance (IPD), the Virtual Boy being cheap and primitive had a knob that had to be adjusted manually so it was very likely for someone to use it with an improper alignment. This is why so many people reported eye strain and headaches after using the damn thing. For an adult it was bad enough but for children under 7 who were still developing their eyesight it could mess up their vision causing lazy eye.

Let's not forget the entirely red display which is one of the most overwhelming colors to look at for any period of time was chosen because it was the cheapest LED to produce. Also the VB sat on a tripod so it was a literal pain the neck to play the accursed thing. I don't know what the fuck Gunpei Yokoi was smoking when he thought such a device was a good idea. It is unbelievable that Nintendo is trying to gaslight their users into believing anyone has nostalgia for this thing.

I just realized this reproduction VB is a plastic shell without any electronics ... Nintendo is going to make the users adjust the IPD manually in the Switch's app! :story:

Wario Land is considered good. It is the only reason anyone cares about the Virtual Boy and should be severed off from the rest of the lineup.

Makes it all the more hilarious that Wario is one of the games left off the initial games list.

As opposed to white? Which every light is by default? Which you can turn to gray if you darken the brightness?

How was that not an option? Seriously, it could have been just an inverted GameBoy Pocket, which at that point was using white/black/gray for the screen instead of that horrid zombie green.
