anyone know how long gag orders typically last? or are they the sort of thing where there isn't a set time limit or anything? are we to assume that there was no verdict reached at all on friday and that now they're still waiting on one?

On top of the gag order, the PR people they hired are probably begging them not to say anything, because if they say anything then they'll definitely say something stupid. I don't think we're going to see any new content in here for a while. Unless you count garbage songs and photoshopped images as content.

Cases like this take time. They were never going to get a solid verdict Friday. Drawing on my indirect experience with custody battles involving child abuse/domestic violence situations what likely has happened, based on what is known from before the gag order went into effect, Rose has to remain in Baltimore for a while longer as this plays out. The investigation is likely ongoing as Friday may have brought new evidence to light that must be looked into as well. The media harassing anyone involved isn't helping the situation either, as it's likely a hindrance not just to the plaintiff and defendants but also to the investigating officers as well. They WILL have further hearings. Also potentially complicating matters are the other 3 kids - what to do with them if it is shown they should also be removed from the household, and IF it's true that their biological father is trying to get them back as well.
Friday was, essentially, to show probable cause to investigate further beyond the emergency situation, and to show that the children are safer with Rose at this time, which means they likely extended the emergency order for the duration of this case OR until the next court date. There was also potentially statements taken from the children for the court, and recommendations for the time being by CPS, law enforcement, and mental health experts before setting a continuance date for when they all next get to show up. Since no signs of an actually arrest seem to have surfaced, it's safe to say that bail/bond has not played into the current proceedings.

Duration depends on jurisdiction. Some places they're pretty much forever by default in matters concerning children and the court has to specifically allow partial or full disclosure.
No permanent orders will have been made at this point. The court will likely want some independent evaluations and both parties will also want to hunt up "experts" of their own. The only way this isn't going to drag out is if the parties come to an agreement and the court ratifies that agreement as consent orders. The parties didn't do too well on formulating and sticking to an agreement before, though.
Also, remember that this is not a criminal proceeding - so there's no "verdict" at the end.

Well, let's look at the history of these people. Do they have a history of being quiet? A year is a long time to keep a lid on it for someone who's "gotta vlog [his] life." Heather's ex husband could go after custody of the other three boys. There could easily be another media incident involving previously unfound footage or a fight in school. Heather could lose her job, they run out of money to pay the people telling them to keep their mouths shut, and BOOM, chimp out. The marriage could break up. There are all kinds of things that could happen. These people are not stable. Give them the dynamite and they will eventually set it off.

So because he had an "asshole dad", that makes it alright? Well thats convenient lets all be assholes here, hey lets kill people you don't like, after all other people kill too. The point of society is to better ourselves, to make sure we try and don't make the same mistakes our parents did, I'd hate to see how the amazing abortionist would be with his own kids. (If he has them)
I read father of five is now father of three. All I can say is good job CPS and hope they lose their other kids too. They have no business being a parent.
