Tony's behaviour in the days after the shooting reminds me of a paper that came out during the bouncy castle convoy a few years ago. The paper suggested that there is a continuum for status seeking, versus populism. While a few years old, the cheerleaders of the shooting for meme etched bullets have I think unveiled their true intent — Status seeking.

Everything about this Tony Robinson kid screams "I wanna be famous" and indicates zero understanding of longterm political anything. It's seriously some fucking retarded zoomer who learned that you can get famous by shooting someone famous, and astutely picked a guy currently very famous amongst university-aged boys (or so I've been told. I'd never heard of this debate tour thing and thought TPUSA was gone by 2013). I fucking WISH the American left would try an actual insurrection if they really care so much and are sooo revolutionary and strong.
Now, I don't think it worked to make his boyfriend not break up with him, but now he's going to have more Discord friends (prison pen pals) than anyone else in his class, and they'll all be jealous of how famous and popular and remembered he is. 🙄 Seems pretty childish of him but whatever, maybe having the most facebook friends feels better than being able to have sex ever again.

I don't have any hard data on this, but I suspect a much smaller proportion of Bud Lite drinkers are religious Bud Lite drinkers than the proportion of leftist Disney consoomers who can't survive without their next streamed dose of slop.

If you don’t want to drink one brand of beer for ideological reasons, you can find dozens and dozens of other options, and the solution to your problem is offered in the same exact place as the offending liquid. You don’t have to change anything about your lifestyle except for a few words you utter to a bartender when placing your order. It’s possible you’re at a bar with only Budweiser products but then you just order wine or a cocktail.

Disney/ABC, they own so much media that it’s almost impossible to completely replace it all at once and with the same ease as consuming the original product. I don’t see a Disney boycott lasting long. What are these people going to do to fill their time instead? Bible study? Landscaping? Quilting? Ha!

Totally. Well and one piece of media isn't a perfect (or even adequate) replacement for another piece of media. Even if Disney wasn't so ubiquitous, giving up your favorite stupid pervert cartoon (read: anime) isn't the same thing as switching from one generic lite beer for another generic lite beer.

I'm sure giving up their favorite anime mid-binge, that's like torture to them. Hell, I bet it'll be like the Harry Potter game situation, where they'll all publicly virtue signal about how they're boycotting but in practice, still consooming and paying anyway.

A bigger issue is that Ambev owned so much shit that probably some people trying to boycott Bud ended up picking up other Ambev products and the immediate financial damage wasn't as big as it could've been. Though I would say that even if they're still getting some cash through a different brand, it still did serious damage to one of their flagship brand names and I think they definitely learned some lessons about wading into political bullshit.

(My local shitbeer, our "Duff" or "Alamo", is National Bohemian and they're made by Pabst.)

My local rep is a bit dorky. I admit cringing a bit when I get for example, mail with his goofy PR picture all over the place. But I've met the guy because he gets out there. If he doesn't have a good heart, he's at least committed to the bit.

I think of Zach, with that hideous cutesy-fetish girl name he chose for himself; of the lookatme quality of his, "I'M YOUR MOMMY NOW" instagram parenthood ... the magnitude of embarrassment I would feel as his electoral subject is fucking unfathomable.

So! Next time I take my family to some BBQ hosted by the local government and I see our dorky rep again, I might thank him for the pleasure of sparing me such disgrace.
