Grandmaster, Popular Commentator Daniel Naroditsky Passes Away At 29

"Unexpected"? So, what are we thinking here? Intentional suicide, Overdose (unintentional suicide), homicide victim, unknown medical condition, undisclosed medical condition, or caught a random bullet from a nigger (unintentional homicide)?

Allegedly found unconscious, so we can count out nigger bullet
Seemingly out of it in a livestream of two days ago, so perhaps medical condition

Huh, so that would probably leave Overdose (unintentional suicide), unknown medical condition, and undisclosed medical condition on the table then.

I hope it isn't another Cobes situation (sudden illness leading to sudden, unexpected death).

We lost a great one. He was incredibly talented and intelligent and just the right level of autistic where he was still social enough. I will always remember him like this: sitting alone in a hotel room with Belenkaya who is actively hitting on him while he doesn't pay attention to her, because he's blitzing away hundreads of bullet games versus Alireza. cg8bmyaycy991.jpg

Kramnik is kinda a clown, but he's making allegations of some kind

Allegedly Danya had a falling out around his role as a commentator? I'm adjacent to the space so I don't know anything about that, but if true then the allegations seems plausible...

Seemingly, conflicts with @chesscom, @freestylechess1, both kicking him out from commentator role, had a big impact lately on @GmNaroditsky. Got the stream episodes. Not a doctor but looks like something "very else" than sleeping pills. Hope,if any, real friends of him will care

Reddit thread dating a few months back seem to imply Danya has indeed not being commentating for chess.com as much.

This one also links to him saying he is slowing down for "health reasons."

Here is Danya's last 2 minutes of his last stream archived on reddit (and now here)

RIP Danya.

Hate to burst your bubble but Ace wasn’t in that, regrettably. The spaceman in the Scooby Doo cartoon was played by his perennially disrespected replacement, Tommy Thayer.

Ace never missed a chance to run down Tommy, even though by most reports Tommy is a stand up guy. The problem Ace had was that Tommy never did anything original before joining KISS; he played Ace in a KISS cover band and Ace thought that was turbo gay. Lots of stories about personality clashes there, too. Allegedly Tommy narced on Ace sneaking a girl backstage when he was still just their tour manager and Ace punched him in the nose. Mind you this was 2000-something, when Ace was a middle aged alcoholic and Tommy was a jacked up personal fitness instructor. Dude just shook it off and rolled his eyes. He’s gotta be one of those “never meet your heroes” types lol.

In exchange for wrecking your memory, I want to leave you with the ultimate KISS kino reel:

⚡⚡️THE NOTORIOUS TOM SNYDER HALLOWEEN SHOW⚡⚡

Halloween 1979, at the pinnacle of KISS mania, right as they were releasing my favorite KISS album Dynasty and I Was Made for Loving You, they sat down to do an appearance on Tom Snyder’s late night talk show. Not a performance but a long conversation.

TLDR: Gene and Paul are being boring so Ace and Peter troll the fuck out of it. Watch Gene and Paul seethe in real time and witness the retarded origin of those Space Bear jokes Ace put in his albums for the rest of his career.
Thanks for posting this. I remember watching this when it aired. But I'd forgotten just how much of a goober doofus Tom Snyder was.

And Paul and Gene were always two of the Jewiest Jews to ever Jew.

that clip starts before some very important context, someone in the background tells Danya he needs to end the stream

"finish the stream... I'm gonna unplug it if you don't end it"

it seems like he had some tard-wrangling / suicide-watch situation going on

"out of it" could mean suffering withdrawal symptoms too, don't rule out drugs just yet.

Reading into this guy doesn't suggest he is a drug user. Atleast not openly.

For those unaware, Daniel was being accused of cheating for a year or two now by his former hero and world chess champion, Vladimir Kramnik. Daniel himself referred to Kramnik's repeated and unfounded accusations as "a sustained, evil, and absolutely unhinged attempt to destroy [his] life." About three months ago he was involved in a controversy regarding a Titled Tuesday tournament. Daniel was kicked from the tournament for not having his Twitch chat set to emote only, which they are in their right to do. This he didn't dispute. Instead, he took issue with being expected to use a special anti-cheat browser called Proctor for the tournament. For months. His thoughts on the controversy can be found here, starting about 23 minutes into this video.

To summarize, he felt misled about why he was asked to use Proctor and that it was actually more targeted than he had realized, possibly as a result of Kramnik's campaign against him. He also claimed there were a number of performance issues with Proctor, particularly when he's streaming. As part of this, he was also expected to have a second camera to ensure he wasn't cheating. This whole system is monitored by a real person, live. So on occasion he would point the camera toward the ceiling out of frustration, because Kramnik once alleged that he was cheating whenever he looked at the ceiling. Essentially, he constantly had someone watching over his shoulder the entire time he was playing.

If you've seen Daniel stream before, or watched any of his videos, you can tell he is not acting normally at the start of his appearance on that podcast. He's a lot more on edge. I think if he did die of a drug overdose, then the drug use started around this time. That said, I don't think it was drugs just given his character and the fact that he's not too high-strung through the whole video. Anyway, you can see how much the cheating allegations are getting to him. Apparently a lot of the Russian chess community have been siding with Kramnik, which Daniel is tuned into on account of speaking Russian and having been trained in the Soviet style. I imagine seeing a community you care about turn on you like that is pretty devastating, especially when your childhood hero is spearheading the effort. Drugs or not, I think it was almost certainly suicide. It's really had my blood boiling, because I don't think anyone else has ever or will ever be as good at explaining chess concepts as Daniel was. I'm not amazing at the game by any means, but insofar as I'm any good at all, it's because of Daniel Naroditsky.

Robert Bartlett, creator of the ECMO to save babies from lung problems, died at the age of 86.
University of Michigan Health always had some great TV advertisements. 30-seconds of tugging at your heartstrings.

If anyone has a second, does it look like Dr. Bartlett appears around 17 seconds into this ad? The guy it holding a device with valves and looks like the individual in the obit, so it could be him. But, the video description doesn't say much about the content.
