If you don't want any of the connected stuff you can probably still amputate OnStar from the GM products that have it. It may throw codes but worst case the cell and gps antennas can be disconnected and terminated so it never has service.
OnStar doesn't dynamically adjust your insurance rates based on your driving.

Chink EVs from byd are arriving in my godforsaken cuntry, tesla prices thanks to our retarded taxes, more-jew-than-actual-jews local businesses and the local retards who pay those prices and validate them

Anyway, havent tried one yet but other people that did say the quality is very good but this is a country used to get "emerging market models" which is absolute shit that could never be sold in amerilardia or the yurop caliphate so the bar is not low its in the fucking floor
From experience, expensive Chinese tech has the benefit of them cramming a lot of relatively costly shit into your device for less money, with the issue of having 10% of it randomly combusting at any point in time due to shoddy workmanship.

To be fair most of the ”Go electric, save money!” talking points come from before AI datacentres became a thing and started gobbling up all the electricity they could get. Obviously nobody is running LLMs on petrol and diesel (yet), so the new energy crisis doesn’t affect them.
AI data centers pay for their own generation. They’re not responsible for the increase in power prices and most of them are in areas with cheap power (for obvious reasons). The only reason for high power prices is green energy.

Supply & demand applies to coal and hydro, too.

The AI guys are all building their own natural gas plants because they want the datacenter NOW and connecting to the grid takes time. They don't really have an effect on residential power prices for that reason (and natural gas is very cheap right now).

Solar/Wind + batteries is too expensive and unreliable so even though Silicon Valley is full of woke Climate Cult members, they're all investing in gas for their own projects (not for you though, you get to pay for $0.42/kWh for electricity because they lobbied to make the public grid green).

Even Elon, solar shill extraordinaire, built a massive gas generator for xAI's datacenter in Memphis. He has dodged everyone asking him why he didn't build solar when half his tweets are about how cheap and amazing it is.

Blaming the datacenters is a convenient excuse for politicians who drove up power prices with their braindead decisions, but it's not true.

Let me guess, manufacturer will say: Umm Achshually the car battery was damaged in a crash before it decided to oxidize spontaneously on video.

Or they'll call this an AI generated video or Trump-lead psyop defamation attack against our country's GLORIOUS EVS.

Man, I remember the early days when people looked up to Tesla as the next iPhone and saw Elon as the new Steve Jobs. How the mighty have fallen.
There was a time I was genuinely interested in Tesla, but after seeing videos and videos of people literally burned alive because the electric doors wouldn’t open that I lost my interest.
A Xiaomi SU7 Ultra driver has died in a car crash in Chengdu after the car struck the median, it caught fire, and the driver couldn't get out of burning vehicle. / Archive

Bystanders also attempted to break the windows to rescue the driver but were unsuccessful, and the flames became too intense for them to extinguish.
Chink Evs are just Tesla but worse, their stuff are always eye candy. I ain't interested on buying shit that’ll eventually combust on me just because it's cheap.

Volvo/Polestar EVs are rebadged Geelys. Do not buy them.
The polestar 2 was at least a european-designed platform from before Geely bought out Volvo and Polestar (though a lot of it was still built in China). I did briefly consider getting one second-hand for the zero car tax - they were going super cheap for a while as everyone started switching to the next model - but one look at the interior put me off. Saving a bit of tax isn't worth all the hassle of trying to do everything on a screen while driving around in a ticking time bomb.
