The issue is that even slang today sucks. Stuff like no cap, aura, hits different, and so on sounds like halfway nonsense and halfway Orwell's Newspeak.

Richard Honeywood must have been dropped on his head as a baby. That’s the only reason I can think of for why he started making everyone in Dragon Quest talk like retards. And even after he left Square Enix, this trend has sadly continued.

There is a character named Jimiken that appears in Cyber Sleuth and returns in Hacker’s Memory who speaks almost exclusively in internet slang. Though to be fair he also does that in the original Japanese script and he’s an internet hacker troll.

Not retards, Scottish, though not a lot of difference.

Tbf Yangus was very endearing, and it is alright to have this sort of writing style for low class characters in a medieval setting. The French one is also passable, but the first one sounds more Canadian than English.
 
Supposedly an adult vn "Agent Mirai and the Submission Machines" got removed from Steam at some point. I can't really confirm details due to online safety act nonsense. But from discussions it was supposedly one of Valve's occasional purges, only this one didn't get restored like the rest.

Not that I know of, and even if there was it would be hard to maintain as staff shuffles can cause problems. I forget which company it was (Xseed?) that had a really good track record, until one guy moved on to greener pastures and the company went to shit, caving to every social media drama.

As autistic as it seems, this (and season 6 being kinda shitty) made me stop playing Afk: Journey. Sorry, but I don't want internet/Reddit talk in a fantasy game like nobody wanted zoomer-reddit talk in Pokemon Legends ZA.

For context, there's a side quest where a cat is trying to get the animals to rise up against the humans, but not all of the animals are siding with the cat. The janitor lines is super cringy. Afk Journey has other problems (season 6 is Temu Harry Potter shit, they're trying to force Homestead content on players, the first event boss of the season was busted because someone ohko'd it somehow, etc.).
 
I played through the Romancing Saga 2 remake recently and it didn't seem like they did a bad job on localization, but the guy in charge of it was either engagement baiting or genuinely saying some retarded shit the other week. The one that stood out the most was this when he claimed he was just like the developers so he can call everything he works on "my game".

The most telling thing on overstating his/localizers importance is that he relegates the actual writing staff to "everyone else" but made sure to include localizers. I'll give him credit in that the Saga games I tried don't seem to have as many issues as other games but this was another odd display of ego from people in these positions. There were some other things but I can't find them at the moment.

SaGa Frontier 1 added pronoun shit, and removed some of the original dialogue. I was going to get it on the Switch 1 before I found out.

A lot of the games released in the US for the SEGA Saturn only credited the localization team in the manuals, with no mention of the actual developers.
 
Well this happened on TroonSky, but Katrina Leonoudakis the infamous greasy whale who advocates for harassment to game companies in order to get hired and bastardize localizations at will got suspended.
