Yes this is long and fucked up. But you know Eugenia has been sick FOR MANY YEARS now. If she'd been your regular schizo just shouting at the ghosts from time to time I'd think all this red tape is not worth the hassle. But she's obviously dangerous mostly to herself so it's a moral thing to send her to court make her fight. Somebody like her neighbor should have realized she's nuts years ago and talk to the social services.
Here's your answer, and it's fine, I think an amount of her lore may be missing from the OP since a lot of us have been following her from earlier websites.
Short version, Eugenia's family is loaded and have very nice houses in both California and Connecticut. She used to live in California often, until around 2020 when a streamer friend arranged for her to be subject to an involuntary psych admission (called a 5150 in California.)
Her mother also enables it. She's most likely mentally ill, it's either a munchausen by proxy sort of situation, or she's a delusional narcissist or deeply in denial. She's always denied that Eugenia has an eating disorder, and a few years ago when Eugenia was taken into involuntary treatment, her mother was furious and took her out of treatment way too early, and of course she nosedived even harder into anorexia after that. Any normal, sane parent would be relieved and thrilled that their child is finally getting the help they need, you know, to keep them alive. It's pretty depressing.
Ah yeah you guys are American you probably don't have any social workers. In Poland in theory she would be assigned a social worker considering her situation and everything. Of course social workers are only for very mentally ill such as schizophrenics but she for sure would qualify.
I'm not saying she should be helped I'm saying she should be isolated from teenagers and children. It's too late for help. If she was admitted when she was 20 then she could have been saved possibly.
So her mother should be reported to the police. In Poland we have a law saying you can't abuse your sick dependents even if they are adults I'm sure you Americans have something similar. So basically her mother could go to jail for letting her slowly die.
Eugenia is a 31 year old woman who actively chooses to live with her mother. She's not legally dependent on her mother.
You can't just lock people up who aren't committing any crimes because "think of the children." If she were to be institutionalized, it would be with a view to helping her, not isolating her from society in case her illness affects someone else.

That's just not how things work here. Americans are legally entitled to refuse a feeding tube as long as they understand they'll die without it. In Connecticut, we basically don't have social workers, it's all very assembly line and you have to keep on top of it. Poorer towns have community services that will help with SNAP (food stamps) paperwork, but she lives in Richville. If she doesn't actively seek out the department of social services, no one is tracking her down. As far as everyone legal or medical is concerned, she's allowed to starve herself to death. She's not legally incompetent, she can make her own (bad) decisions. She's not dependent on her mother, in any sense other than codependency, if she wanted to move out she could afford to. If you could even convince a cop to do a welfare check he'd just determine she's alive and not being held against her will. Anything beyond that is her choice.
She is mentally disabled so technically she could be in theory.
But you can lock up freaks.

Maybe in Poland you can, but in the US you need to do a lot more to get permanently locked up than just being anorexic in public.
If Eugenia makes you that upset, you can stop attending her freak show at any time. Almost everyone who sees her feels that way, it's normal. But nobody can do anything about it, and proposing hypothetical solutions to get her out of your sight is dumb when you can just exit the thread and forget she exists.
No government employee looking at her taxes, she makes waaaaaaay too much money to be disabled by legal standards. Welcome to America, disability decisions are made in court. We don't give out disability money to people making money, and that's what "mentally disabled" would mean here, a court decision that she's unable to maintain substantial gainful employment.
