I don't know how they reconcile the inherent homophobia involved with pressuring your probably just gay son into becoming a "girl". The fact that a highly conservative country like Iran is promoting it as a solution to homosexuality should present itself as a red flag.

Ehh, there is a good point in this- sex ed sucks in this country (assuming you get it at all, thank you education system) and an actual (non-biased) cirriculum would do more good.

But save that for high school, kids don't need to fret with that.

These kids are being pushed into decisions about their bodies when they don't even know what their parts do yet.

The kid was like 8 or 9, girls are getting periods pretty young now. A lot of kids have mistaken ideas about how babies are made at those ages (i.e. babies come from kissing, babies come from someone lying on top of someone, etc.).

You really have to keep it as simple as possible for a fucking kid. They'll GET IT if you don't go "Some mommies have penises" etc.. They have to know that they aren't the norm. That the norm isn't something icky, just way more common. And less confusing.

SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Acceptance) was one I REALLY liked when I heard about it, but the more irritating types shot it down fast. Something something 'inter-community unacceptance' and 'too inclusive.'

Then there was QUILTBAG (I don't even-) and MOGAI (Marginalized Orientations and Gender Identities); neither caught on for reasons.
