Part of the reason Rowling is so rich is she really doesn't let anyone else control the product and generally retains veto power over anything important. While I'm not really a fan of her non anti-troon content, I'm definitely a fan of creators retaining control over their own creations and not becoming beanfield serfs to megacorporations.

The new HP series is a co-production of HBO and Warner, not Netflix. Of course, every major studio is Woke so that hardly makes a difference. So Snape is black and Voldemort may be played by a woman.

However, a few months ago Rowling did tweet that she's read the script for the first two episodes and she had effusively high praise for them. I would hardly expect Rowling to have trashed them but if they were awful she just might have said nothing.

There's a possibility that a showrunner might try to sneak either an openly trans or 'coded trans' character onto the show (that of course didn't exist in the source material). We shall have wait and see.

I think it was mentioned pages ago that Voldemort is going to be played by a woman who is well known for doing androgynous characters.

Race swapping Snape (and possibly Hermione) is somewhat questionable, it's definitely unnecessary, but the casting decision for Tom Riddle? It's perfect. Voldemort is already the perfect trans-coded character, in a way that's extremely unflattering to troons.

I mentioned quite a while back that black Snape was probably inevitable if a terrible choice for reasons articulated by many, many people. Ultimately I am curious to see how both and Voldemort go in this version, I'm optimistic that if allowed to go full ham both could be choices most people will shrug about.

Speaking of franchises ruined by Netflix I believe confirmed date of November next year for Greta Gerwig's Narnia. I can feel a headache already.

There’s a few fountain pen companies with HP collabs at the moment, I like the other Lamy ones with the engraving. Nice to see pen shops online and offline have them fully stocked, and so far haven’t seen any stockists or YouTube reviewers mention JKR being evil, which is a bonus.
