So I randomly saw this very quickly pop up and get dejeeted off r/worldnews...
A pastor from Odisha’s Dhenkanal was hit, forced to eat cow dung, and made to chant Jai Shri Ram by members of the Bajrang Dal.

The incident, reported by Maktoob Media, took place on January 4 when the pastor, along with his family and a few others, was attending a prayer meeting at a house in Parjang village.

A mob of around 40 people gathered outside and forcibly entered the house of Pastor Bipin Bihari Naik.

“They started beating everyone inside the house. Besides us, there were seven families who were praying with us. My children and I managed to run out of the house and rushed through a narrow alley towards the nearest police station,” said Vandana, Naik’s wife.

Naik, narrating the incident, said he was beaten with sticks by the crowd and red sindoor was smeared all over his face. He was also forced to wear a garland of slippers and paraded throughout the village.

Vandana said that despite repeated requests, the police refused to come immediately and help her husband.

“My husband was tied to a Hanuman temple in the village. Both his hands were tied behind a rod. He was forced to consume cow dung and was bleeding badly. People were slapping him and forcing him to chant Jai Shri Ram,” she said.

Despite police intervention, the mob did not immediately stop. Naik was eventually rescued and taken to the police station, the report said.

A social activist told Maktoob that Naik was made to sit at the police station for nearly an hour without any medical assistance.

Parjang village is a Hindu-majority village with only seven Christian families. The mob alleged that Naik was conducting forced religious conversions. Although the police registered a complaint regarding the incident, a counter FIR was also filed against him, accusing him of forced conversion.

I really hope this is some honor guard devision. The time spent training for that retarded dance could have been spent on actually learning to aim and fire the artillery correctly so they don't get assraped by Pakistan again.

One of the big reasons the US doesn't emphasize marching in unison like China is because the time spent learning and training could better be used on other, more practical skills in the battlefield.

Minor quibble, the US Army does practice formation marching all the time. But its actual formation marching from the 18th and 19th century battlefields,, which emphasizes unit cohesion and moving with purpose. Its not designed to look good on parade with flashy moves and perfect lock step legs and arm movement. There is emphasis on making sure everyone in the formation is moving at the same pace and on the same foot though and its drilled constantly as a way of building unit cohesion.

The US Army isn't very good at Parades though, I will agree because parades are a waste of time. No fancy goose steps and spending hours every day working to look good at parading.

Also, I think I am falling down a rabbit hole.

It's well known that the Indian military uses an extremely exaggerated form of British ceremonial drill as their standard drill. They're too stupid to understand the difference and use the flashy ceremonial form because it looks more "professional". The outcome is that their own ceremonial drills end up even more exaggerated, which leads to India and Pakistan engaging in dance-offs to change the guards at border posts.

Ceremonial drill is used to generate unit cohesion and also a shared pride in the ability to perform to an extremely high standard. It's like the honour guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Yes. But the US Army has dedicated ceremonial units for that function where the task is to LITERALLY look good on parade.

Though in the case of the Sentinels, that also includes security training for pistol whipping retards who cross the ropes and approach the tomb. They dont carry live rounds, but they are permitted to kick your ass if you dont listen to instructions.
