I just don't like the models. Naked dudes with whips for hands. Repentia (I think that's the name) are the same kind of look but at least have the giant chainsaws going for them. Of all the battlecrys in 40k, "Send in the gimps!" isn't the one I expected.

I have a bunch of models and a shit load of melee weapons from my frostgrave kits I could proxy in. Assuming I don't buy something else.
Sisters suffer from the issue of being 2 armies in one.

On one side, you have the actual Sororitas. White haired crazy holy ladies with elaborate guns. Tanks with stained glass. Organs that fire rockets. This is what most people sign up for.

On the other, you have the Ministorium. Criminals drugged up and turned into weapons. Cowards told to charge naked at the enemy. Walking machines with man made horrors beyond your comprehension.

Now, i LOVE both sides because its the most imperium faction you can pretty much get. But they have 2 very different and clashing designs. You might pick army A but youll need to get some models from army B and vice versa. You kinda just get over it or run thematic lists that dont take models from the other half, youre hardly penalised for that too

Outside of that, you can argue that they are one of most tragic (imo) cases of brainwashing in the imperium, because compared to space marines and servitors which are unaware of how brainwashed they are the custodes are fully aware that even if they disagree with the emperor or his plan they are bound to follow his orders.
Sure, but as you said, this doesn't mean much in the end; they are still 100% normal people, which I find a missed opportunity.

Not that I want everyone to be inhuman, but some would be nice for once. I can't see why people still go "actually no one read Xenos because they want the human experience" when the figures that are supposed to be inhuman (marines, custodes, primarchs) are just normal people, and so are the xenos. Every eldar, necron, and ork is just a person with a different painting, which is fine.

With all of that being said, there are STLs that would make this sort of thing a hell of a lot easier, especially for things like guardsmen and cultists. If you look up casualties on cults3d or myminifactory you'll see what I mean since there's tons of them
I may need to buy physical ones, since dont really own a 3Dprinter, nor know anyone who does.

If that's the case there's probably some on etsy, but there's services out there you can send an STL to and just have it printed for you. Of course also finding the STLs for free means you'd only be paying for the printing. I've used craftcloud in the past for resin stuff if I can't find someone locally who isn't already busy. It's like a fiverr kind of thing if that makes sense. And yeah for something like 3d prints of casualties, you'd want resin instead of FDM.

Like I said though, dismembered body parts is easy, and space marines and necrons aren't hard either. Tyranids would probably be another one you could do pretty easily re-pose the joints as well to make one look dead on the ground.

I have been back to painting again, mostly doing 40k add ons for my odd fixation of having both a White Scar/Raven Guard marine force and the final additions to my Death Guard, however after it I will need to paint and finish my 30k White Scars just to do it, what the fuck is even going on with heresy exactly? I heard 3rd was a flop but they released the rules people needed and thats the last I heard of heresy.

I haven't kept up with Heresy. Plastic is coming slowly but surely and custodes finally have much needed plastic kits to make the faction more accessible to players which is only a good thing.

I was confused at list building at first but like it more, and all the legacy rules are in the list builder I am using so all my old miniatures are valid. Was confused as at first I thought they removed Sagyar Mayzan Rite of war however I just found out you can only give it out to some random units and still use the terminator unit. I guess it was kind of an OP rite but it was basically pretty much only infantry and barely any heavy support was allowed. Overall, not the end of the world since the ebon keshig terminators are waaaay better now.

Keep an eye out I mostly gotta do 40 infantry blobs, a bunch of HQs I have and Saturnine terminators went from hating those chunky boys to really digging them.

Got the second out of like six minis done, this one looks better than the retarded one I did, but I think after these six I'll need to get a much darker white than the one I'm using.

finishing up my first BA Sanguinary Guard and Terminator Captain. Still undecided if I want solid red terminators or to match the theme of the Captain by making them gold. Tried to do more Nmm on the SG's spear, not sure how well it turned out. Might keep picking at it when Ive got time. Either way pretty happy with my progress so far.

Lookin good pimp, keep going and have fun.

The base coat got so much better, good work. Nice job on the camo too, i never risked doing any, but i've seen people using putty make more natural camo shapes instead of having to rely on freehanding them.
I did another one before I went to bed but didn't get a chance to take a picture of it before it dried, but I managed to splatter that one a lot less than the sniper as well.

Everybody's models are looking really good in the thread, especially like that aged gold Daniel Day did on his sanguinary guard. Figured I'd show what I've been working on.

Been able to get more done with my night Lord squad, just have bone and plasma effects left to do I think. Could use some advice though, I don't think the scalped and skinned corpse on the banner is reading as scalped. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to make it feel more like exposed bone?

Use a super thin layer of green stuff to show the different layers of flesh, scalping takes a LOT of flesh off, more than you might think. It also leaves behind a lot of hair and detritus so the "scalped" area should be more akin to one strip of a knife rather than the entire scalp in a circular pattern, so maybe use some of that green stuff to try and mimic hair as well that got missed (unless you want to keep him bald).

Hm. KTBay has started putting stuff on the purple site.

They do specific pre-made kitbashes, like the simplified 40k tabletop board games they sell at Target (which are just Space Marine Heroes repackaged), meant to represent a single Kill Team.

For a little under $5 for each bundle they're not bad. Not enough to do anything with 40k (although some would work well as HQs) but I think each is meant to adhere to a specific KT. Not supported, but I hear modern auto-supports are a lot better than they used to be?
This is a scam, from what I understand. There are tons of other comments from people who made these models originally, too.

Devout and fanatical human women still being women, I doubt all of those things would be used for conflict. What line of the codex specifically forbids such a thing? Exactly.
