Atlus isn't going to sue over a dozen of dollars total that Phil is making from his Persona 5 Youtube videos each month, that's for sure. Their legal department probably costs that much money during a bathroom break. His defense is that he's absolutely insignificant, so companies can't really profit from suing him.
They'd really only do it if they wanted to make a point (as corporations do sometimes feel that wasting millions to legally break someone is worth more in the long run) and set a precedent really. It's doubtful like you said though.

I'd laugh though given that the longer he does this the more likely his channel is slaughtered.

That Patreon quote at the bottom reminds that time where he got payed to do a full playthrough of Persona 3, and then ended up ragequiting on the final boss. ON EASY

Easy? A EASY boss fight? And he can't even do THAT? How the ninth circle of fucking Hell can you fuck up something as simple as a Easy boss fight?!

When i fought it a few years ago, there is a certain maniacal hatred that moonlight (Gown?) will inspire in the average person even on easy, still beat it first go though. as long as you have a few plume of dusks and some HP stuff you should be ok

I'm no copyright lawyer, so let me know if I'm reading the situation right in terms of the publisher's rights. Can an LP of a game be hit with a copyright strike for whatever (or no) reason at all? Can Altus just decide to strike his account for no other reason than disliking Phil, and that strike will stick? The way I'm seeing it, they have final say on what of their product is shown on YouTube and on which channels; but I want to make sure I'm seeing this correctly in terms of copyright law.

Considering how much shit Phil talks about developers and publishers, this could be Atlus finally saying enough is enough.

Yeah but Phil wasn't directly shitting on Atlus for P5 as far as can tell. It was probably just an automated strike, and if Phil wasn't such a manchild, he could probably solve this on more amicable terms (like contacting Atlus and asking for clarifications). But of course, leave it to Gout Boi to fuck up the most avoidable situations.

I suppose Phil could technically claim that his constant bitching and moaning counts as "criticisms" which would therefore fall under Fair Trade and Use. It won't do him a fuck ton of good, though. When it comes to a dispute, content hosting websites usually side with whoever has a legal team on standby.

I also doubt the idea that Altus is specifically targeting Phil simply because he's talking shit about them. Lots of people with larger audiences and more lucrative channels were already talking shit about them for their streaming restrictions. Plus, the last time Phil got any attention from a game dev was when Running With Scissors was making fun of him for being shit at Postal 2.
