It really depends who you ask. I posted a video here at some point of someone asking random people "if a woman finds lolicon on her boyfriends phone should she break up with him?" most people said yes because if it's something that makes you uncomfortable you shouldn't stay with him, One woman brought up if she had kids with him she'd be afraid what he'd do to the kids, another said she thinks it's weird but not a big deal. What is the japanese perspective on lolisho content?
I have seen people debate it to hell and back, and nobody seems to agree on anything. Some people claim they are fully accepting of it, others just say they tolerate it.
To me, it seems like they despise it outside the otaku circles and don't say anything, because they don't want to cause trouble.
There was a political movement to get it banned at some point but their government wont budge on it. There are people who really see it as a free speech issue but couldn't care less about the ass backwards defamation laws in that country. But one thing they're all in agreement on —even the people that consomme it, is that people into loli/shota-con are pedophiles. They don't try & hide it or deny it there because it's just a known fact in Japan. This is a country where you could still get child porn easily decades after they made it illegal in most 1st world countries & took over a decade after to criminalize possessing it.
