I gotta say this is pretty funny removed from the whole "writer getting off to it" thing. Kinda wish it was animated less stiffly on top of wishing it was removed from the horrific fetish shit but that seems to just be an issue with modern animation both 3d and 2d.

It's a good example of why the show works, why it really ended up surprising me when I actually watched it, and why I think it's more "mature" than other indie adult cartoons. You have crazy shit happening but you also have characters who feel really human and well-rounded, and writing that feels really thought out. For all Goose's faults, they know what they're doing. The show has moments that actually feel "adult."

I liked your essay because it’s well-thought-out and I agree with it majorly. As much as I am critical, I do think Gooseworx has talent, and The Amazing Digital Circus does deserve its success.

But even after reading all of that, I still wouldn’t call it "adult."

There is a famous cartoon that also deals with the harsh realities of working fast food. We see, in nearly every episode, a depressed, nearly suicidal cashier who is reminded every day of how his dreams will never be realized; a cook who can only cope because he is too naive to see he is being exploited; and a fast-food boss who literally thinks a dollar is worth more than his employees.

You might have heard of it: it’s called SpongeBob SquarePants, and it airs on Nickelodeon.

If anything, kids' shows having little moments that hit harder for adults while the kids laugh at the hip, silly jokes is standard for children's animation.
