If anything, I'd say Nick is more like an Irish-descent white kid and "predator" is shorthand for "from a poor family." Think about it. The wealthiest predator we see is a vole, and he's basically The Godfather, so we know he came from humble beginnings. If anyone comes off as a black person joining the police, it's Judy. She's got that entire "Bunnies can call eachother 'cute', but when other animals do it..." line. Similarly, Assistant-Mayor Bellweather. Nick wants to touch her afro-like wool. That's white person behavior, yeah? White people like touching blackhair, that's what I hear?
Oh, but I forgot. Nick has to be black because... reasons. After all, he's a sympathetic character, and you can't symapthize with people that aren't your race, so if black people like him, he's clearly "a minority."
Like... isn't any given animal a minority in Zootopia? Aren't the vast majority of residents mice and hamsters?!
