I also stopped going to Home Ec. for exactly the same reason, and because I, literally, couldn't stand the heat in the kitchen as I was always hyperthermic back then (that was probably the start of my antibody swings).

Hard to say, Cirrhosis tends to turn visible for everyone when it's already to late. Cirrhosis and other forms of liver failure due alcohol and drug abuse can develop over a long time. It depends on what Aut is consuming and how often and in which amount he does it.

A great danger is his consumption of unidentified hormones he illegaly and semilegaly imports. He believes, his sellers aren't cheating him, but I'm pretty sure they are cheating anyway or they don't know the real mixtures of these drugs either. Some of these drugs have small amounts of Aut's desired active ingredient, but the odds are high that the pills are cut down with something other. If Aut's "lucky" it's just something like flour, talcum or everyday painkillers. But it's not uncommon to find outright poisonous components like warfarin and strychnine. "Real and safe" drugs that we're smuggled are much more expensive than their legal purchasable counterparts. You can't buy cheap drugs on black market and expect they're the exact same stuff a physician would sell/give you.

I'm sure, his liver function tests would already show some nasty effects his abuse caused. But he's - barely - in a state where his liver could recover from it. Provided he stops his abuse soon.

Edit: There's also the chance his kidneys surrender first.
