Same, I thought it was going to be some "Anon calls Trish a  nigger trigger" bit at first, but it seems like what James feels about saurians is closer to an actual phobia
Yeah exactly, James' being actually xenophobic opens up a lot of interesting ways they could tackle it especially since there is enough degrees of separation to not have to skirt around the real reasons people end up like that.

I was talking about new trailer
Doubt that dancer is a tranny, especially considering Nerd's stance on gender specials
clearly is not but cavemanon doing lgbt themes better just to spit on ko-op is a level of pettyness i can respect , if they do it of course

also the obligatory references i wonder if he can buy booze from a guy who says "welcome"

I thought you were referring to Tired Cat since that's his big sperg point.

I hadn't seen the trailer yet, I like it, it hits hard.

I really hope that they don't, but at the same point I think that they would be able to do it well. What is it with 4chan VNs and being able to tackle left wing talking points in a respectful and tactful way?

The freedom to be offensive brings with it the freedom to be thoughtful and delve into topics more deeply than anybody afraid of cancellation if they don't relentlessly glaze their subject matter. The people famous for saying 'niggerfaggot' usually don't mindkill themselves when it comes to considering other viewpoints like the stereotypical leftist developer. It's a resilience that needs cultivating in places that will just call you a retard if your shit's all fucked up.

I suppose when you don't care about representation then a character can be a person and not a symbol since they don't need to represent anything.

Okay, I'm going to spitball a bit.
Leon obviously doesn't like Saurians Dinos. When Ashley starts dancing, he exaggerates things like her teeth, feathers and tail. The obvious things.

I think his racism hides a deeper psychological trauma that he uses to cover for it. as for what, dunno. Leon himself seems to be a "woe is me" type but his scholarship was cancelled for some reason which is why be began to heavily drink. I wouldn't be surprised if he was pre-med or something and got burnt out on it.

Ashley though, obviously wanted to be a dancer from the trailer. There's this one shot however.

She takes 5 of those pills which cause her to OD, not sure if intentional or not, but her text conversation, "Remember our deal?" I think she might be having money troubles and has to do something like this to stay in college. There's even a line at the party that I think was from that guy.

Ah, and the references to Hell. She's someone who believes in Raptor Jesus.

I also wanted to note all the extra art and small animations. You can tell the artists have really improved since Wani.

I tried the demo and its good, I'm really looking forward to see how the full product will be but I wonder how the racism will factor in.

More than just racism or even a phobia, i'm getting some PTSD vibes from this guy.

Seems to be quite a bit darker than their previous projects, which is intriguing. If in previous games main characters were a bit troubled, now we are in a life of perpetual suffering territory. I expect good and bad endings to be much more impactful since both of the main characters are complete fuck-ups, so fixing them up can be heartwarming, but making them worse would be gut-wrenchingly ruinous.

In the only choice in the demo, MC can try to kiss and win back his ex only to fail miserably and whimper away with alcoholism, debts on his shoulders, and nowhere else to go. That scene and character reminded me so much of another pitiful drunk that I couldn't help but compare

Ya know, I would actually be down to see this game done in Disco Elysium style.

Its likely setting up that he had some kind of trauma experience that led him to feel this way but I kind of hope thats not the case, I think it could be a lot more interesting if its irrational and not because he got attacked by a Dino.
Even if it isn't the result of a trauma a velociraptor is a scary thing to face down in any context. You're talking about a woman who has steak knives for teeth, paring knives for fingernails, and a toenail that looks like something Jason would use to murder teenagers on each of her feet. Plus she's probably faster and stronger than the average human plus has a tough hide that's going to be borderline impossible to damage without a weapon. Sure, she's friendly, but if she decides not to be then you're in for a bad time.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think it would be an irrational fear if it's directed towards a stranger.
Trish is cuter.
Trish is very cute if you discount her trigger personality.

@Rockzo Given that he picked out that Ashley was on opiates from just a cursory glance at her eyes I would also assume that James was pre-med.

EDIT: a word

Thats what I'd want, in a world where living with dinos is normal having someone who has a reasonable our world reaction to people who could just rip your throat out is interesting. Its actual prejudice that has a lot of ways you could tackle it.

Oh for sure, and it's definitely the most interesting hook in the demo.
