Harold "Hal" Turner of North Bergen, New Jersey is a former FBI informant, convicted felon, and conservative talk radio host. Many people reading this may know of Turner from the prank call raids and DDOSs Anonymous conducted back in 2006 and 2007, but his story has many more interesting elements to it.

Originally gaining notoriety in political circles as a regular caller to Sean Hannity's radio show and coordinator in Pat Buchanan's 1992 presidential campaign, Turner hosted The Hal Turner Show, which originally ran from 2000 to 2009. The show quickly became infamous for highly polarizing rhetoric that many associated with white nationalism. Additionally, he operated the Turner Radio Network (link archived from 2007), which aired his own show on various low-power FM stations around the country, plus programs from other WNs such as Matt Hale, Paul Gellar, and Jim Wickstrom.

For much of the show's run, he ran a blog at halturnershow.com in which he wrote articles with such titles as "Official records from international Red Cross prove 'holocaust' was fraud" and "Feds grant eminent domain as collateral to China for U.S. debts." Video exists of him at white power rallies giving racially charged speeches against black crime, some of which were included in a CNN interview in which he goes far enough as to support nooses:

Despite all of this, he considered himself (and still does) the "voice of the common man" charged with the mission of, as he says at the beginning of every show, "bringing American talk radio to countries around the world."

In 2009, he was arrested for attempting to incite violence against three federal judges via an editorial posted on his site:

"Let me be the first to say this plainly: These judges deserve to be killed. Their blood will replenish the tree of liberty. A small price to pay to assure freedom for millions."

Later in 2009, it was revealed that Turner was an FBI informant codenamed "Valhalla" from 1993 to 2008, with the last five of those years with the Joint Terrorism Task Force. It became clear to many of his followers that many of the things he said were at the behest of the FBI, or as he puts it, to "flush out crazies."

He was found guilty in December 2010, sentenced to 33 months in prison, and prohibited from hosting a radio show until three years after his release. After a long series of appeals, he was released early on October 5, 2012, and exactly three years and two days after this date, The Hal Turner Show returned to the air. Since his return, he has characterized the reason for his arrest as "writing an editorial the government didn't like," roundly criticized those responsible for his arrest, and attempted to deny certain facts stated on his Wikipedia page, including his involvement in the arrest of the Hutaree militia.

He has an unusually comprehensive ED page as well, but this is just a basic overview of what he's been up, for those new to him or who have forgotten him.

The show airs Wednesday evenings from 9pm-11pm EST on WBCQ shortwave radio and streaming online as well. He takes calls, usually after 10pm, at 201-771-3013.

The show is listener supported. If you want to send him money, this is his home address:

Harold Turner
1906 Paterson Plank Rd
North Bergen, NJ 07047

You can also give him money at his website, halturnerradioshow.com. While a former affiliate of his, SuperStation95, used to post archives of his show, the radio station has since gone defunct and Hal now charges a $10 monthly fee to receive links to each show after it airs.

However, most of his broadcasts from his prior run are still publicly available, at this link:

Hal is the perfect example of pre-Chris trolling. We are more refined gentlemen than the :julay: of yesterday.

Agreed. Hal gets fewer prank calls than he used to (I attribute this to few people knowing that he came back), and he also broadcasts with a 15-second delay so he's able to kick off really obvious weens. It's much harder to prank call Hal than someone like Ghost; often times, you have to be more subtle, and even if he picks up on it, he'll usually laugh it off and let it go out on the air if he liked the rest of your call.

Will you be listening tonight?

He might come visit us.

He has, at least once: when I was on the air with him talking about welfare programs, I mentioned Chris and he brought up the Farms the next time I called him; I think he called them the CWC forums or something like that.

EDIT: If anyone will be listening tonight, let me know!

Ghost is actually playing a duet with most of the people trolling him and is as much of a troll as they are.

Hal Turner has no sense of humor at all.

I attribute him ending up in Club Fed to the trolling he got from 4chan snapping his tiny little lizard brain in half.

One person from the Partyvan (I stream the show live on the TF2 server) said that "Hal got boring once he stopped being racist."

There's also a theory that he got v& because he was a shit informant.

This guy needs a whole lot of mental gymnastics just to re-brand himself as a half-way reasonable man, as opposed to someone who gets high-blood pressure at the sight of high skin melanin.

I'm confused now. Is, or is not, this guy a fucktard? This paragraph makes it seem like he is making an act. Unless I am missing something.

He's definitely a fucktard. He was an FBI informant, but if he was a really useful one, they wouldn't have chucked him in the slammer. So he managed to buy himself the worst of both worlds, getting a reputation as a rat and then getting shafted anyway.

Or possibly he's just so repulsive and annoying the feds thought it would be funny to use him like a dirty whore and then throw him to the wolves anyway.

In either event, he's a double loser. He's unlikely ever to get much traction again in his old circles, because they aren't terribly fond of rats.

I seriously doubt he is as radical as he proclaimed he was back in the day. He is still very conservative though; during one of my calls, we were chatting about Jeb Bush, and he said, "He married outside his race, which... you know, I do not SUPPORT that..."

Update 2/24/2016: Just a heads up to anyone interested:

Hal will be on an hour early this evening at 8pm eastern to talk about World War III in an extended 3-hour edition of the show. (Check the superstation95 website to get an idea of the tinfoiling that will ensue.)

Update 5/17/2017: Necroing this for a quick update.

Hal left the show this past February due to lack of funds, but has updated his site periodically since then. Now, it looks like he may be coming back to the airwaves this summer. http://halturnershow.com/index.php/33-news/world-news/456-july-re-start

Oh I remember this guy. He used to get his callers arrested and then have the audacity to shill for their legal defense fund the next day.

i wonder if he's planning on taking calls. i could certainly get down with getting this guy fired up for old times sake.

that sounds like the same number it was to call back in the day...so that whole time he was in the pen he had phyllis paying for that phone line...weird. i seem to remember he had 4 lines or something, and maybe they were routed to that main one. i had the other ones somehow too. im guessing this winds up low key phonemob scenario.
