Don't diss the prism! some of us have astigmatism so bad dots look like a smear of red paint on a window.
I kept a Steiner prism on my LMT, worked well. had BDCs out to 600 yards as i recall.

ended up making a few hundred profit off that upper when i sold it on. replaced it with a generic M4gery build that i haven't shot in years.

I've got astigmatism as well, but thankfully red dots and holos work fine for me. However, I did get a Primary Arms 1x prism for my Franklin Armory F22 build and like it a lot.

Thankfully I can use red dots with vision correction, but without it, WOAH BUDDY! I've got like a 100 MOA dot on the Aimpoint Pro, lmao.

It is possible that the US Military could finally be adopting the XM8, however, there is nuance

Speculation it is the 11" model Sig Saar is showing off
Lol the desperate attempt by SIG to unfuck the M7 is hilarious.

Make the barrel 2 inches shorter, remove metal from the receiver, make it even more horrific to shoot unsuppressed and add a sheet metal heat shield to the suppressor. Oh and the shorter barrel means even higher chamber pressures to keep the "lethality and range UPGRADED (LOL) over the M4A1" the Army (actually Mark Milley) was screaming about to get this piece of shit into service.

Lol indeed SIG.

Just chamber a battle rifle in 300 win mag at this point if this farce must continue. Basically the same power, and the chamber pressure is lower.

Well you see, the ONLY thing that makes the M7 abomination and the .277 FURY (6.8x51mm) worth a shit is that retarded chamber pressure that lets certain rounds outperform 7.62 NATO.

Literally every other round is a 1:1 ballistic twin for M80 ball.

So if they dump the .277.... That rifle is fucked as is the LMG (with no quick change barrel lol)

They could have just made a bigger round, but no, they wanted the same case length, and as such, caused the pressure to be way too fucking high.

they could have just used .270 Winchester with their fancy 6.8mm bullet and get the same damn performance as .277 fury.
just develop a long action mag which shouldn't be to hard with modern experience. a sensible barrel length of 16 to 20 inches (it's a battle rifle not a SMG, play to it's strengths)

the .270 Winchester has been doing this since 1925

If you want to skip that, go for a 9mm carbine like the Kel-Tec Sub 2000
Having shot it. I wouldn't recommend going with the sub-2000 unless having a compact or concealable rifle is necessary. The latest version doesn't come with iron sights, so your going to sink $100 for a quality optic at the start. That will bring you in striking distance of a entry level PSA ar-15. I'd argue the kick on a decent AR-15 is around the same.

Price per round is higher, but if you are shooting to plink or target just buy a 10/22 with a vortex. That's good to 100 yards

Bizarre Belarusian Rifle, Shepot-739, Val but in 7.62x39(?), potentially has Malik or proprietary attachment method on the suppressor body? I have no idea why they have this, If they wanted a specialist rifle for shooting subsonic projectiles get a normal Val, if they wanted a suppressed 7.62x39 rifle put a suppressor on an AK.

Hmmm, any rec's? Or is ACOG the only choice? Can't say I own a prism optic yet so fairly new to what's worth it and what's not

Stiggie brothers, unite!
I really like the PA 5x prism paired with their 45° offset mount for either a micro or pistol dot (I went micro since I had one laying around):

Oh shit you may be onto something. I have a few pistol dots laying around in storage with no planned guns to run them on so would only need the mount and the prism.

Is that one mount for both optics?
Yeah. PA makes a 45° offset mount in both Aimpoint T1/T2 or MOS footprint that replaces the picatinny clamp for their microprism optics, so you only have it take up the rail space for the prism mount. They'll offer it discounted as an add-on when you purchase one of their microprisms:

They could contract NEMO Arms to make them some OMEN Recons. Probably come in cheaper than the M7 though it will have a lot less ammo capacity.

I don't know about the same performance.

Why don't they just develop a better intermediate cartridge? I'm sure plenty of people suggested that.

Yes a round between 5.5 and 6.5mm would probably have been the best as a true 5.56mm replacement but that was WAY too sensible for the US Army.
