Sonichu Sonichu drawing for sale

I might be just a little slow-in-the-mind today, but does anybody know whether the auction was taken down by Chris himself or by someone from the eBay staff?

I'm not sure who was responsible, Chris or E-bay....The violin auction was also taken down and that wasn't going for anything crazy like $13,000.

But in any case, the closing of this auction is another reason why Chris should go for a fundraising site such as IndieGoGo or Kickstarter. He could always give out scanned copies of his work for anyone bidding $1 and give out originals at the higher prices, all the while saying that this will eventually fund a new issue of Sonichu. Like someone else said in another thread, Kickstarter doesn't really care overly much about verifying that people do what they say they will with the money. At least that way if people threw in a dollar, Chris would be more likely to actually get it and it'd be more likely to continue adding to the fun.

Now that's an excellent idea, and a logical one. Too bad Chris isn't logical.

Something like a personal thank you or shout out for a dollar, a scan of a pic for five, and a hand-drawn original for 10-20, depending on how long he spent on it?
This is all hypothetical, of course.

I would love to point out that everyone on the Cwcki Forums is giving Chris good ideas.

Chris, if you're reading this (which likely you aren't), please don't disregard our ideas as trolling. It's far more productive than the Anna-patter brigade.

I'mma (:_( right now. Gotta rest up to do stupid adult things.

Chris...admit "defeat"? Since fucking when? My money's on ebay having removed it. I believe he said something like "stradivarius copy" (even though it was spelled incorrectly). Ebay strongly frowns upon the notion of putting a word in your title to misleadingly attract buyers. For instance, the phrase "like new" is not allowed because what you are selling is not new, but with the word "new" in your listing, you'll attract the searches of people looking for "new" items. Thusly, Chris, in poorly spelling Stradivarius, could be seen as trying to attract buyers insterested in an actual Stradivarius. But once again, this would simply result in the auction being shitcanned and nothing else. Chris would have to do this repeatedly to warrant any sort of disciplinary action.

Lots of internet celebrities have profitted from their infamy. Chris could easily make money by setting a website and ask for donations a la Vivian G, or even better, go all Fifty Shades of Grey and launch the webcomic adventures of Zonee Q., the Mighty Speedster, by the True and Honest Christian Weston Chandler...

However, that sounds like A WHOLE AFTERNOON of effort.

So what you're saying is, you encourage the idea that Chris should find a site that is much more lax in checking on whether or not the people using it are actually going to follow through with their promises so he can pocket some money that is suppose to go to making new sonichu comics with?

Look, anyone willing to shell out money for his drawings is a fool, but if he were to start a kickstarter under the promise of new sonichu issues and instead he just pockets the money and doesn't follow through, that's still a scam (and possibly fraud). Chris doesn't need help with being dishonest.

The main lesson Chris will learn from this is that he was right: trolls prevent him from earning money legitimately and that he should continue to IGNORE ALL HELP WANTED ADS.

These are the times I feel bad for him. He tries to do something right earn some C-quarters and it all goes wrong, through very little fault of his own. Sure he made some buffoonish statements a long the way, but it was his first foray into work since getting canned from Wendy's in 2001. I will cut him some slack. I would have loved to see him make 20-30 bucks out of this.
This was like halfway between work and sloth, since Sonichu is just a copy of someone else's work.

But, yeah, he was at least trying to do something semi-legitimate. If anything, this is going to make him more cautious about content-for-money proposals.

As Marvin said, weens gonna ween.

Oh god... in fact, now, with this starting bid, picture, and "buy now" option, he is going to lose money with this. Nobody is going to buy it and he has to pay the ebay fees.
He had a buy now option before too, it just got removed real quick because the auction price was more than buy now. I do, however, love "Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing." It's in writing folks!

"I reserve the right to Block any and ALL users/bidders who send me hurtful or hatered-filled messages, or if suspected as an Internet Troll with reason. Bidders with ZERO or Less than TEN Positive Feedback will also fall under the suspicious category and may be considered for Blocking as well."
