Games With Really Spergy Fanbases That You Still Enjoy

This thread has made me realize that not only am I not a member of any actual fandom, I also hate the idea of being associated with them. More or less in response to this thread I bought Ace Combat 6 which I've been told is "the best one" by a few people. You know what, I like it a lot, cheesy dialogue, bad acting and hyper dramatic story lines combined and overblown arcade combat scratches an itch for me. I've asked myself a number of times over the last 12 hours or so "Why didn't I play this ages ago?" and I realized that it's because among Flight Sim players the second you say the words "I play Ace Combat" you get lynched.

Why would FS spergs care at all about Ace Combat? That's like FPS players telling you StarCraft isn't a true shooter. Like no shit it's a totally different game.

In the same manner that ARMA players get shitty with people who enjoy CoD (which is most ARMA players tbh, they just don't wanna admit it)

I still enjoy Minecraft quite a bit. It's the kind of game where I won't play for a year or two, then binge it for like a month and have a great time. I can't entirely fault the fanbase because a good amount of them are kids, but when I look at all these YouTube "personalities" that have built entire media empires around screaming at Minecraft it makes me a little reluctant to say that I really genuinely love the game.

ARMA players are the vidya equivalent of airsoft enthusiasts.

DCS spergs are worse, not by a lot, but they're worse.

Most FS spergs are actually autistic and/or super salty about never becoming a pilot IRL, so they think they can achieve the same glory by just being super uptight about how it happens on a computer screen. They just get really mad when you call it a game or actually have some fun with it doing shit you'd never be allowed to do in real life because to them, the game is their life for one sad reason or another. They're essentially just substituting their shitty existence with their own Top Gun fantasy.

And as a sad aside, when I was flying as an instructor on the NFO pipeline, all of the IPs in my unit were huge in to TIE Fighter, Jane's:USNF and Jet Fighter 2, but didn't care much for the more "advanced" MS Flight Sim because that shit was too realistic to be fun

I do enjoy Mega Man for it's gameplay and it's soundtracks. It wasn't that spergy before until it had a crossover with Sonic. Now the autism has been amplified to higher levels. Damn Sonic fans.

I just try to think the fanbase doesn't exist and I don't tell everyone I like it that much actively.

Undertale. I avoided it for a good while because of the fanbase, then bought it on a whim a couple of months ago. I ended up loving it a hell of a lot more than I thought I would. I'm not really the type to get emotional over video games, but damn if it didn't get me more than once. I still avoid the fanbase, though. From what little I've seen of it, they're pretty crazy.

Five Nights at Freddy's is this case for me as well. Even though I own the original 4 games + Sister Location, I much prefer to watch people play it (it was another series I avoided for a long time because of the fanbase).

Pokemon. Good lord, the Pokemon fanbase. Always up in arms about some stupid shit that doesn't matter. That doesn't prevent me from loving it, though.

Since the release of Persona 4 Golden that fan base has became pretty bad but still really enjoy most of the SMT games.
Sonic's fan base maybe the worst of them all, for new Sonic games have to say I really enjoyed Sonic Generations and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed , but Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are kind of shitty which it seems 90% of the tism comes from.
Kingdom Hearts, I find the gameplay fun in most of the games, do enjoy the Disney world's for the most part, but the story and original characters are 100% shit which is what the fan base cums over.
I really enjoyed The Last of Us however it does have faults and didn't need a follow up despite what the fan base thought

Could you explain, for somebody not in the know?
At a convention in Taiwan, someone gave a fan artist a cookie that had a needle inside, which ended up piercing the fan artist's tounge. I believe the incident happened cause the fan artist drew Frisk X Sans stuff, but either way, it's still pretty fucked up.

undertale has a pretty shit fanbase but the game is pretty good for the 8 hours i played it. the sims has a pretty shit fanbase too, but i'm mainly referring to the main franchise. telltale's the walking dead-actually wait, any game telltale has made since sam and max-you see their community it's pretty shit no matter what side of the community you're on

The Sims 3/4 fanbases are pure cancer, but I find the Sims 1 and 2 fanbases nice enough. Especially The Sims 1, since the game is old enough that the cringe kiddies don't wanna play it because it's OLD and TOO HARD and has FUGLY GRAPHICS!!1! so the fanbase is mostly people in their 20s and 30s who are pretty chill. I like that the fact that the game is old and the fanbase's main forum is undergoing heavy renovation means that it's kinda splintered with people sticking to their little blogspots or Weeblys and making content because they genuinely love the game, and not because it'll totes get them 200 new followers on their ~*pastel simblr*~.

Animal Crossing is a game that I love that has a slightly :autism: fanbase. I don't mind a lot of the ~let's be child friendly~ stuff since it is a game that can be played by little kids who may or may not have access to the internet, but you can really see how the community was affected by the edgelord Action Replay seeding clans back in the Wild World days like 10 years ago; a lot of them really don't like hacking/save editing talk in their forums even though it doesn't do any harm and newer cheats tend to block online functionality to prevent things like the malicious seeding from happening again. It's really getting on my nerves and makes me not want to interact with the community if a mod is gonna get his panties in a twist everytime I talk about the way I play my game.

The Sims 2 fan base was incredibly cancerous back in the day. It's just most of the autism from those days have long been deleted. Too bad the exchange site for it is gone.

Honestly all game fandoms are spergy and i just avoid them entirely. I was tempted to join a Fire Emblem forum but the autism from both the old and new fans completely turned me off.
