" countries near the poles are mispresented, size wise, because of maps made by Mercator projection." exactly, so the size of Canada is exaggerated since its closer to the north pole. When you adjust the size of Canada, the size is roughly the same as America. Never suggested that they were exactly the same size but they are about the same size relatively. whereas the maps make it look like Canada is much larger, thats due to distortion. its not much larger.
I never suggested you are to blindly believe me. You just confirmed what I said however with your acknowledgment of misrepresentation of size markers. evidently you mistook my statement too literally of being roughly the same size. Your definition of "roughly" may be quite different than mine. I meant it as "almost the same". When you deal with millions of square miles, "almost the same" could differ by thousands of square miles. Canada is only about 58,000 square miles larger than the USA. That's hardly anything relatively speaking. That works out to Canada being about 1.5% larger than the USA. Come on, you can't be serious that a mere 1.5% larger size means they are not roughly the same size. It'd be like someone who is 6 feet tall compared to someone who is 5 feet 11 inches. They ARE roughly the same size. It would be like 1 dollar compared to 1 dollar and 5 cents. they are roughly the same size. So I was not wrong nor did i express ignorance or stupidity in what i said.
