Oh he has money for sure, but he's a cheapskate to the bone. Or rather, a cheapskate when it comes to things that don't give immediate gratification. It's why he (used to) spend money on expensive dinners when Leanna was still around, but won't use more of it to pay off his debt; because that expense doesn't benefit him immediately.

He could file with lawyers sure, however it'd be pointless since nobody but an actual billionaire could hope to have a chance in hell against a case against Youtube/Google. He's just doing his usual "Bark like a big dog then back down like a little bitch at the first sign of pushback" routine.

How convenient that after somebody suggested in DSP's stream chat last night that he re-do the Death Counter so it begins with a larger font size and then shrink it down to eliminate the blurriness, just now, "Oh folks, you notice I have cleared up the Death Counter text. It was too small to start, and it's fixed now."
So "a detractor" improved his streaming presentation...with no thank you given, I might add.

And yet the "detractors" still gives him hints for improvement, like idiots. He may be onto something when he calls them stupid and immature kids.

I'm fond of pointing how shit he is but giving no pointers on how he can improve. Let the fat fuck squirm trying to figure out what he could do to save himself.

It wasn't suggested to help him improve. The blurry text was triggering my OCD.
Improvement to his stream presentation was incidental to the purpose of the pointer.

dont be ignorant like his fans and believe his lies about his finances. he has alot of money.

Estimating is hard to figure out exactly how expensive a lawyer for DSP would be. Criminal attorney fees tend to be easier to figure out, but they are typically in the low end. So roughly around $150 per hour to over $1.000 per hour. Higher in larger cities than rural areas. Also rate would be higher based on nature of the criminal complaint. Any lawyer is going to round to the nearest hour so even just filing, expect a couple of hundred dollars US before getting very far.

Since we are talking about more specialist lawyer, I would imagine DSP would be paying more in the higher end...like $500 per hour or more. And I think the nature of Phil's argument would be seen as legally weak. So no pro bono work or just a large cut of the settlement. For any lawyer, they will expect upfront pay because of unlikely nature of positive result.

DSP will have to pay upfront to prevent lawyer from wasting his/her time...so expect a retainer. I would see this to be around $3.000 to $10.000 for an attorney to start work. Once the the majority of retainer is spent, DSP has to start paying the hourly fee on time or his attorney stops work.

This is a lot of debt to take on, even if DSP is doing much better than he implies (which I agree with you, I do not believe his financial situation is as bad as he claims on regular basis).

I am surprised that DSP does not just go to telethon format for his videos, like Jerry Lewis on Labor Day.

Also, if he lost the case, he'd be on the hook for the other guy's lawyers, too. He'd basically be instantly bankrupt. They'd probably have two or three top shelf IP lawyers. If he had one lawyer going up against them, he'd still be looking at something like $350-500 an hour, not counting costs. They'd also probably want something like $10,000-20,000 just to get started, especially after looking at his financial situation and realizing he didn't have the money to carry the case start to finish. The moment the money dried up, they'd be gone.

The other side would also look at his finances and realize he couldn't afford it, and then proceed to spend him into the ground, especially if they were in-house counsel who get paid salary rather than hourly.

Lol DSP is still salty after all these years that Slowbeef has a more legitimate claim to the title of "person who pioneered LPs" than he ever will.

Nether of them or anybody still active has any claim to have pioneered LP's, there were a lot of people who did them before the term itself was coined or YouTube and streaming services exploded. Back in 2007 i somehow stumbled onto this site, if you look through their video archives you'll notice they have videos going back to early 06 including "marathons" of games that can go for 12 hours or longer.

I consider them to have probably the best claim to have created LP's than anybody else that i know of, other people did similar thing even back then but i don't know of anybody else from that time frame who made unedited gameplay + commentary a regularly scheduled thing. The principle members were all 15/16 at the time and they all kind of drifted away from it around 09/10 (not long before Minecraft became a phenomenon and a ton of people started getting famous on YT doing the same style of videos they had been making) but the owner still does stuff occasionally with some of the original members.

Its always been particularity funny compering them to Phil when he makes these grandiose claims because he was still using a camera just a few years ago whereas the guy who ran that site was using direct capture from the very start and moved to HD the moment it became viable around 08.

A 16 year old kid in 06 was more technically proficient than Phil was in 2013.

The SOK's Twitch account is back thanks to all the info BSV gave about his report.
