Unrelated, but the biggest thing i dislike about obsidian/black isle side of Fallout is them shoehorning "tribals" into the world. I'm sorry but a few hundred nukes do not make humanity (or parts of it) forget that pants exist and are, indeed, good.I honestly find it funny when people play Fallout New Vegas and completely miss the social commentary about the Khans and settler/native relations. Anyone who makes a big deal out of American slavery is either brainwashed/uninformed, or intellectually dishonest, there is nothing particularly brutal about slavery in the US that makes it stand out when compared to other slaveries of the era. What really annoys me about the American slavery guilt people is their total lack of intellectual consistency, where white indentured servitude and convict labor before the Civil War can never be compared to black slavery, but black indentured servitude and convict labor afterwards can.
It's because they see the poor whites as their enemies. What really annoys me about the American slavery guilt people is their total lack of intellectual consistency, where white indentured servitude and convict labor before the Civil War can never be compared to black slavery, but black indentured servitude and convict labor afterwards can.
There is a whole contingent of cringe leftists that get strangely attached to the American Civil War and the Union because they were anti-slavery despite the fact that everything else the Union stood for is anathema to the modern leftist worldview.
The idea of some element of the population turning to a tribal existence is the single oldest post-apocalyptic trope, probably derived from observations of the state of post-Roman Britain and the Bronze Age collapse, both of which did see total loss of certain technologies and mass de-urbanization. The earliest example off the top of my head is Earth Abides by George R. Stewart from 1949, as well as the often referenced and formative A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr, and Space Viking by H. Beam Piper, though that one is more the source for Space Fiction. It isn't about forgetting things like pants, but rather the loss of technological expertise and the industry to support a civilized existence. It is easy to survive as a hunter-gatherer as a human, given that it is the natural mode of existence, while trying to uphold technology is expensive.Unrelated, but the biggest thing i dislike about obsidian/black isle side of Fallout is them shoehorning "tribals" into the world. I remember that a lot of the contemporary nuclear apocalypse stories tend to see humanity losing knowledge and devolving into warlordism, but I still feel their depiction is frankly absurd. Rome didn't collapse overnight, its power had already withered away in those regions for a long time before Britannia formally dissolved and the tribal societies regained influence, but if you watched things like Threads and Mad Max, you would believe that nuclear survivors would be reduced to illiterate tribes within a generation. The idea of some element of the population turning to a tribal existence is the single oldest post-apocalyptic trope, probably derived from observations of the state of post-Roman Britain and the Bronze Age collapse, both of which did see total loss of certain technologies and mass de-urbanization. No, it just allows humanity to admit that pants were a mistake. Typing this with my cock and balls dangling freely btw.I'm sorry but a few hundred nukes do not make humanity (or parts of it) forget that pants exist and are, indeed, good.
A good excuse to have "The Gods Must Be Crazy" type adventures.Unrelated, but the biggest thing i dislike about obsidian/black isle side of Fallout is them shoehorning "tribals" into the world. Damn, I've actually seen some of his stuff in the past. I got him mixed up with History of Everything Podcast who's another chubby guy with a beard, albeit he's American.Crossposting from the What video caused you to stop watching a video thread:
I'm not subscribed to this guy, but I used to occasionally watch Flashback History's videos if they got recommended to me and they seemed interesting. He's basically just yet another guy-reads-Wikipedia type of channels, but not as soy-filled as Simon Whistler. He actually looks like a fat JD Vance with a British accent. Anyway, one of his new anti AI videos popped up in my feed, so I watched it...
...and he gives a fucking Quinton-style rant about how AI is responsible for the rise of fascism in America and that Trump is using ICE to arrest innocent Americans. He even...Reactions:x 14

TL;DR - milquetoast history Youtuber from the U.K. makes an "AI bad!" video where he goes off on orange man for being a heckin' fascist who's responsible for the rise of antisemitism.

US under Trump and Israel is fighting side by side right now so this claim was retarded back in 2017 and it is even more ridiculous now.
