RIP Thread

Speaking of things that happened 10 years ago, it was 10 years ago today that my mother passed away. I'm glad she's no longer suffering (80-something year-old bodies do tend to start giving way), but I still miss her.

The range is baffling. I recently visited a 104 year old who still lives at home by himself and can get around (not seamlessly, but well enough that he didn't need my help). Then I've seen 40 year old who seem to be coming apart at the seams.

I'm sure lifestyle plays a role, but I'm willing to bet genetics has a bigger hand in it.

Either way, I'm glad your mother has found peace.

Today is the two year anniversary of my mom's death :(

Still hurts just as much as the day she died.

10 years, 2 years .etc

Death of loved ones, friends and family alike, do not have a time limit. They're determined by how long you tend to grieve for. Fuck anyone that tells you or others to get over a death or "you should've been over it by now, it's been 10 years."

It's those people that don't realize the importance of people being gone on a permanent basis.

32 and 24 years since kurt cobain and layne staley died

fuckin' sucks
I always feel bad for Layne especially. He died around the same date as Kurt, but since Kurt's death was such a big deal, Layne's death got overshadowed by Kurt.

You never get over it. You just learn to live on without them.

It's been 12 years since my mom died. She didn't even make it to that age though. She died in her 50s. Cancer.

Kurt died at his peak, Layne died about six years after he stopped doing concerts. He looked almost dead at his unplugged concert and sat at an angle that would make sure his rotting teeth couldn’t be seen. Sad situation all around.
