I don't think (most) white Boomers ever truly bought into the idea of a colorblind society. I think they did something far more perverse. They took a noble savage mindset to disenfranchised and downtrodden groups. In the Lib Boomer mind these groups commit crimes and do wrong because they do not know any better. Its almost kindof insulting and I think this mindset is part of why so many ethnic minorities have been shifting towards the right. "No, that black criminal is a criminal because he a degenerate. I'm black and I don't commit crimes and I don't want this guy walking free in my neighborhood", etc.

The Zoomers who actually did growup in the colorblind utopia masterminded by the Boomers actually did come to see other people as people. They could see that certain groups have certain views that hurt people they cared about and did see people who were exceptional. A friendly Muslim girl talking about her parents pressuring her to marry a elderly cousin, an Indian rising above his culture to be a virtuous and kind person. Younger generations unironically appreciate diversity better because they hold people to the same standard because they grew up with them as just normal people.



Even a more liberal and progressive young person will have a more nuanced view of race and cultural differences than a Boomer and on the interpersonal level as I think the generational difference is a bipartisan one despite what you see on the news. . I think most young people would be united in saying this woman was a moron who should be held responsible, but to the Boomer this woman is a victim because she did not know any better. It is a patronizing racism that is more revolting than actual hateful racism.

Silent gen was the actual demographic that supported the disaster "reforms" of 1965 and beyond. The issue is that people assume that housing prices will just magically crash because boomers won't be the owners when in reality, they will continue to go up because houses are seen as investments by people of all ages. Until homes start being treated in the same way as cars, the price will never go down or match with inflation.

I said it in USPG2, but I can’t help but laugh in that bitter “I give up” sort of way when I see boomers whinging about elder abuse. Spoiler alert: Gen X, Millennials, and Z’s grandparents were the silent and greatest generations… and guess who fucking put our collective grandparents in the nursing homes to be neglected and abused by niggers on payroll? That’s right: it’s the boomers.

I miss the days when I had elderly neighbours with chained spectacles, waist-high pants, and 70s-80s Buicks and Cadillacs because they were the old people I grew up with: the kind of old people who wouldn’t hesitate to babysit their neighbours’ kids while the parents had to go into Manhattan to handle appointments, paperwork, and such. The stories of sugar, rubber, and gas rationing during WW2, their childhoods during the Depression, those overly minty peppermints we still got by the handful… I miss all of my past elderly neighbours from my childhood so dearly.

Without fail: one by one, they died off and their boomer children inherited the houses, and sold it off to Indians, Pakistanis, Koreans, Han Chinese, even the odd Latino family here and there. Then the main thoroughfares stopped having American delis and bake shops and got replaced with the same damn Indian restaurants, yet another Chinese laundromat/dry cleaner, yet another fucking halal fast food place, Korean BBQ spots that shut down in a year, the list goes on and on.

Even the boomer neighbours I had who were “cool” and owned their own houses in the area fucking sell their shit to Indian contractors who turn it into a McMansion and drive up property taxes. Queens in 2006 is NOT Queens in 2026. I can take a Google street view snapshot of some of the places I lived in way back when from 2008-2010 and contrast that to now, and the result is bitterly depressing.

Even now, houses for sale by real estate companies like Douglas Ellison or whatever it’s called are a dime a dozen here. Those houses were built anywhere between 1965-1995 and were worth like 100 grand tops, median market rate is now clearing 900,000?! For what?! Some sweatbox down the road from Long Island where your property taxes are only marginally lower compared to Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk?!

I really wish that I could still maintain the fiction of “respect your elders” that I grew up with. I really do. Back when I was a kid, my elders were worth respecting. As an adult, my elders are contemptible subhumans I WISH could experience the horrors of the nursing homes they inflicted upon their parents when they were in the prime of their careers as punishment for pocketing the inheritance.

But I doubt that’ll ever happen. I’ll be 60 years old and the last boomer will still be clinging to life like Darth Sion in KOTOR2 from sheer hatred that younger people have anything left.

Old people used to be useful, right? They would help watch grandkids, still do simple stuff around the house/garden, pass on valuable wisdom and advice, and so forth? What the hell changed, just atomization and the breakup of communities and family units? in those other cultures (and times) your family was your life, it was the reason you did anything at all. work to feed your family and to provide education for your kids, build an estate to strengthen your familys wealth, network and make connections to strengthen your families social position, etc. kids taking care of you in old age was an afterthought, the primary motivation was that you saw your family basically as an extension of yourself into the future, so working towards the common goal of strengthening the family line was something you saw as your own personal interest.

No disrespect to the elders I’ve known who died in the hospital but like… if I ever get to a point where I can’t even wipe my own ass, let alone bathe myself, I want to die right then and there.
