Strong enough, sure, but in the case of unpredicted failure I'd rather have the 1903 with the massive improvements they made.
Mausers also face eventual receiver stretch with serious use, as many classical gunsmiths will attest to, which is unfortunate.

.450 Bushmaster is unpleasant in light rifles, cheap scopes and mounts beware.

The Ruger American had(has?) a lot of lemons, with how affordable they are there's also tons of posts about failures and accuracy issues. They can be good if you do in fact get a good one.

To be fair, you could get M1 Garands rechambered for .458 Win as well. That would be a helluva dangerous game/bear rifle.

You can convert a M1 to .35 whelen or 9.3x62 with just a barrel change. The case heads on those cartridges are identical to .30-06. should feed from the clips just fine too, only dimensional difference in the case is the neck/shoulder area.

There is always going to be lots of lemons with such a cheap gun. that's the main thing. they just can't afford to keep the price down with proper QC
