It’s very unstable and her skull slides off her neck and her neck slides off her shoulders when she’s raised up; the pillow can’t seem to support her head or neck and her skull appears flattened from the piece of skull that was removed for the decompression surgery. I knew guys diagnosed with both in the 2000s. That’s not new in itself. The label is newer, and more women are diagnosed/claiming to have both. In the case of the munchie, AuDHD is another cutesy label that they can plug into their bios.

I don't look at social media, and I'm straight, so the only time I see AuDHD is on men's dating profiles.

Lots of guys in their 30s claiming it. Way more than are saying they have ADHD alone.

It does still occur today, but not with the fervor of the 15th to 17th centuries. It's even mentioned in Don Quixote. Also it 'existed' on a spectrum. There were def people who used it to malinger or for benefit or something, but there were also the raving mad ones who really did believe they were going to shatter into a million pieces. The truly delusional ones fascinate me in a way our girlies just don't sometimes.

Maybe my thinking is biased, because in Poland med unis are overflown with students so unis can pick best students. Maybe in the UK you have no medical studies. Anyway I seriously can't imagine any non corrupt physician signing on Ola, unless Ola didn't show them her entire medical documentation.

This is what annoys me most about her. The harm she has done to the image of disabled professionals. She legitimises illness faking by promoting it as a medical student, encourages patients to be at war with their doctors, has no insight into how outlandish and unsophisticated her own lies are, insults her future profession as a whole, has burnt bridges with her future colleagues before even graduating, kicks off when she doesn't get what she wants. That chick is legitimately sick, dude. Weirdly, she popped up for me too, but she had a thing where her pelvic organs and intestines prolapsed out of her vag and butthole. She literally pooped out her intestines and it happened twice to her due to underlying Ehlers Danlos Syndrome issues - Once as a kid, once as an adult. In theory no- most of our antibiotics are derived from figuring out how bacteria survive in the wild in bacteria heavy environments. You can find antibiotic resistance in the middle of the sea, where no human ever goes. You could probably swim safely there because you'd have to be truly unlucky to find one that can colonise humans, because such mutants offer no evolutionary advantage in the absence people.

Virulence factors and anti-microbial resistance are genetically distinct. The problem with most of our munchies with severe (self-inflicted) infections is that they have been colonised by bacteria with both significant virulence and strong antimicrobial resistance.

In general virulence decreases over time- if you render your host bedridden the pathogen can't be passed along to as many people. So from an evolutionary perspective its better to keep your hosts mobile. This is why hospitals are such breeding grounds for actually deadly multi-resistant bacteria. I suspect that its similar for viruses and fungi, it all comes down to selective pressures in specific niches.

There is one quite serious caveat to all this- any bacteria that ends up somewhere it shouldn't be in the human body can make you very ill. That's why women are taught to wipe front to back. The E coli in our gut microbiome is just fine there. But if it makes it into your urinary tract it will cause problems. This is why we speculate about munchies putting poop in their PICC lines- they are putting bacteria we live happily with in places they don't belong. From a brief conversation with a doctor, most of what actually makes you feel ill in this case is your immune system trying to get rid of the interloper. Even though these bacteria are harmless or even actively benefical in the right part of the body, if they colonise the wrong part you need to blitz them ASAP otherwise you're at risk of sepsis and death.

This entire thread is an example of what happens when a person does not have adequate support. Sure, it might be funny at times, but these are real people whose actions impact others. There are people like EmmyKatrina and the other FND lady who mainly burden their families, and there are people like Paige and Kelly Ronahan who spend years leeching medical care for self inflicted problems because they never learned how to get attention in a healthy way. If your first instinct upon seeing a sick or disabled person online is to immediately assume they’re faking, then it might be time to log off and touch some grass (or tomatoes). Yes the internet attracts fakers, but it’s highly unlikely that every single disabled person online is faking it. In the Real World, fakers are usually the minority, albeit one that’s hard to ignore because they crave attention.

The one person IRL I know with these both formally diagnosed is a man in his 30's with the fixations of the tism but the follow through and fickleness of ADHD. He's got other issues related to his Autism so I don't doubt his diagnosis but I'd be highly sceptical of people who are so public about it.
